Les Misérables

It is based on Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel of the same name. The follows ex-convict Jean Valjean as he attempts to establish a new life in 19th-century France. The musical began in Paris in 1980. It has since become one of the world’s longest-running musicals, with productions in numerous countries and languages. It is a story of a young nun who becomes the head or the one who manages the von Trapp family and eventually marries a father. It was set in Austria in the late 1930s. The musical was based on the 1959 book “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers” by Maria von Trapp.

The musical is famous for its hip-hop and R&B, but still, traditional show tunes tell a story about America’s founding father, Alexander Hamilton.
