Revealing the confessions of Shopee-holics

Shopee is an online department store and marketplace. It is one of the most popular e-commerce sites in the Philippines. With their monthly mega flash sale events, it hooks people to shop for more.

Thus, the Shopeeholics are made. They are people who are willing to spend so much money on online shopping.

Fashionista’s go-to hub

Kirsten sees Shopee as a one-stop shop. They have everything under the sun, from clothing, accessories, and equipment, to kitchenware, home appliances, and many more. The good thing is- the prices are very affordable.

A certified fashionista, Kirsten mostly buys clothes and shoes in Shopee. She expects a weekly parcel and sets a monthly budget for it around 2,000 to 3,000 pesos. But Shopee is also a hit-or-miss game. There are times when her expectation of the product doesn’t meet reality.

So why spend so much on online shopping? Kirsten admits its therapeutic aspect.

“For me, it’s very therapeutic. The happiness and satisfaction it gives me when I’m looking for clothes are just different.”

Online shopping for mommies

Eunice is a nurse and a mother of two. She learned about Shopee through TV advertisements in 2019. She only buys on Shopee once a month and mostly, items for her kids.

Her most expensive purchase on Shopee is an electric steamer. Which she claimed is still cheaper compared to the department store brand.

“Read the reviews first,” she emphasized as the most crucial factor in buying an item. After a long day of saving lives, Shopee became Eunice’s stress reliever.

The workaholic Shopee-holic

Janelle, an office worker, is the most Shopee-holic of three women. Monthly, she receives at least ten parcels from Shopee! It all began in 2019 when she started working. With her busy schedule, Janelle doesn’t have the luxury of doing store-to-store shopping.

As the Shopee-holic that she is, she scrolls through Shopee for two hours every day. Her purchasing decision depends on her needs and wants—usually phone cases, hair dyes, and T-shirts. Looking at the reviews and price is also her technique for getting the best deal.

She shares why she’s willing to spend so much on Shopee. She saves at least 5,000 pesos for her monthly shopping galore.

“It feels like opening a present from myself.”
