Social media started out as an avenue for social connection. Through the years, it has evolved as a powerful platform for digital marketing and building empowered communities through online interaction. This phenomenon progressed when our physical world went to shut down and the virtual world became our social arena. Following this evolution, marketing strategies have seamlessly adopted internet as a primary channel to expand and profit.  

After witnessing the radiant potential within this paradigm shift and the power of storytelling in shaping brands, this young woman began her crazy voyage towards digital marketing.

Meet Micaella Mamanta, the creative genius behind The Mika Media, a digital marketing agency. Mika (also known as Ms. Meka) saw a burgeoning opportunity in the internet and fearlessly stepped into its wilderness. While starting a business from the ground-up is never an easy feat, Mika has been dedicated to build her empire in the industry since childhood. 

Exploring social media as a way to inspire

Akin to the David vs. Goliath of small brands facing up to huge brands. Working with startup local brands, she realized the possibilities to grow from zero to a hundred. Coupled with the dynamic spirit of a Gen Z, this inspired her to take up the content marketing route.

She describes influencers as game changers, bridging the gap between brands and audiences. Before deciding to handle content creators, she was a creator herself. She crafts inspiring videos encouraging young girls to love the skin they’re in. Mika’s aspiration to connect with the world through content creation became the force behind establishing The Mika Media.

It was far from being a breeze as The Mika Media began as a one-woman show. Lo and behold, through grace and grit, she managed to expand to a team of 23. In just three years, she established four specialized departments—PR, Social Media, Content and Creation, and the Core Members.

Addressing adversities and driving them to success

With light and positivity in her personality, Mika describes her hurdles as plot twists in her life story. Keeping everything in harmony while juggling college with business was a hair-raising experience. Every knotted obstacle she encounters is another ‘crash course’ in how to untangle knots, and every misstep she commits is a treasure found, placed in her heart. Furthermore, her experiences as a young entrepreneur highlight that age does not determine level of competency.

Amidst the pressures of personal and professional life, prioritizing her sanity and being consistent with it is imperative for Mika. She perceives consistency as a ‘balancing act.’ As a breather, she allocates time for family bonding and her cats. Furthermore, she explores extracurricular passions outside work to maintain a steady flow of energy and creativity.

Success is personal and cannot be measured on a scale; its definition varies significantly among people. The Mika Media sees full potential of their clients and relentlessly pushes boundaries to deliver results. They define success through the impacts they make for the brands they support.

Aside from being a fruitful garden of opportunities, marketing is also a ring for competitiveness. For Mika, as Gen Z gradually enters this battleground, they bring adaptability, cyber synergy, and humor to the table. Although visions are easy to express, making them a reality may be difficult.

Turning visions into reality takes a blend of strategic planning and relentless execution. It’s about breaking down big ideas into actionable steps and having a team that’s as passionate about the vision as I am.

One of her proudest moments was when a local brand she worked with became a household name. That campaign saw the alignment of her team’s collective creativity that yielded exceptional results. This was the ‘lightbulb moment’ when she realized she was in the right place. She says that it’s pure magic when a strategy spurs a far-reaching outcome for their clients.

All of these successes were possible because of the fun environment she builds for her employees and clients. Keeping a safe space has always been her goal for ClubMika. In doing so, she conducts a monthly ‘RSG’ (Ready, Set, Grow!) alignment meeting with her handles and team to catch up and grow.

While it is easy to gain audience, building a community is a challenge. Mika worked her way up and established a space where people feel heard and valued. With such wisdom and enthusiasm for embracing change at such a young age, Mika is THAT girl! Proof that the future is safe in the hands of young minds.

The Mika Media is an image of dedication and life vision put into action. Only when you look at the picture holistically will you realize you’ve come so far. She shares that the journey is what makes something beautiful; arriving at the goal is merely a bonus.

Believe in your ideas, embrace failures as lessons, and always stay true to your passion—it’s the fuel for the journey ahead. I’ve said this before but through grace and grit, you’ll get there. Enjoy the present and don’t be afraid, because someday it will become your story to tell. And, I am extremely glad to have been here today to tell you mine.
