VP/Tech: realme 12 5G – Unboxing and First Impression
Following the successful launch of the realme 12+ 5G last March, the leading mobile phone brand introduces another unit from its #realme12Series5G – the realme 12 5G.
Similar to its older sibling, the realme 12 5G boasts a design reminiscent of trendy, luxurious watches. Adding sophistication despite it being positioned as budget-friendly price range.
In this VP Tech, we delve into our unboxing experience and initial impressions of the new realme 12 5G.
The Unboxing
Packaged in realme’s iconic yellow box, the realme 12 5G box boasts a sleek design, prominently displaying the model “12” on the front. Meanwhile, the brand name at the bottom, while key specifications grace the back.
Upon opening the box, you’ll encounter the inscription “make it rea’l” printed on a miniature phablet. Inside, discover the SIM ejector, Quick Guide, warranty documents, and a complimentary Jellycase.
The realme 12 5G rests securely in eco-plastic beneath the miniature phablet box. Additionally, you’ll find a USB-A to USB-C cable and a fast-charging 45W SUPERVOOC Charge adapter.
Build and Aesthetics
The realme 12 5G offers two color variants: Woodland Green and Twilight Purple, with the latter being our review unit. Initially, upon inspection, the realme 12 5G, akin to its older counterpart. It emanates a sophisticated and premium appearance, an aspect where realme excels. However, unlike the 12+ 5G, this device lacks a Premium Vegan Leather design on the back. Opting for a cleaner, more vibrant aesthetic similar to the realme 11. Moreover, Contributing to its premium feel, it boasts a slim and lightweight profile, measuring only 7.69mm thick and weighing 188 grams.
This series distinguishes itself with a circular camera design inspired by trendy, luxurious watches. Furthermore, the realme 12 5G’s design incorporates the Polished Sunburst Dial, 3D Jubilee Bracelet, and Polished PVD Edges on the camera. Additionally, this model features only a dual-camera setup on the back, fitting snugly into its budget-friendly category.
Featuring a 6.72” FHD+ display (2400×1080), the realme 12 5G boasts a 91.4% Screen-To-Body Ratio. Additionally, the front hosts a punch-hole camera setup, incorporating realme’s mini capsule 2.0 feature.
On the sides, the upper right houses the volume rocker and power button, along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. At the bottom, you’ll find the USB-Type C charging port, speaker grills, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Meanwhile, the top accommodates the SIM tray and a mini-microphone.
Camera
In line with the brand’s “Be the Portrait Master” campaign, the realme 12 5G boasts a robust 108MP Portrait Camera with 3x In-Sensor Zoom, akin to the realme 12+ 5G.
Positioned as the budget-friendly sibling of the realme 12+ 5G, this model features a dual-camera setup. However, it doesn’t compromise on image quality, thanks to the support of the Samsung HM6 Sensor. This sensor excels in capturing detailed scenery in ample light and utilizes pixel-binning technology for clear low-light photos.
