SONA 2022 | The Dresses of the Most Powerful Women in the Country

Before the Filipinos lend their ears to President-elect Bongbong Marcos Jr. SONA, many look forward to how the political officials, VIP guests, and celebrities will show up in their tailored outfits.

The recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) was delivered by President Bongbong Marcos Jr. held in Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City as the 17th Philippine President. While much of the attendees flaunt their various clothing styles featuring their barong and Filipiniana dress as if they’re incorporating the Filipino culture and tradition into the important event.

And now, let us go through the current talk of the town.

Heart Evangelista

The wife of Senator Chiz Escudero, Heart Evangelista surprised the crowd with her elegantly detailed Filipiniana dress designed by Mark Bumgarner. As she’s a famous fashion icon, she was included on the SONA’s 2022 best-dressed list. While Senator Chiz Escudero wore a traditional barong.

Sara Duterte

The Philippine Vice-President Sara Duterte dangled the tribal look of Davao City. The traditional costume has very fine ornaments that are rich in colors and geometric lines. The top greatly ensembles the creativity of the locals in Davao. One may see that the overall design was handcrafted and made solely for a particular occasion. We could also notice its accurate fit for the Vice President. The accessories such as necklace, earrings, and bracelets, as well as the headdress, really complement the whole look.

Liza Araneta-Marcos

The First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos flaunts her simple yet elegant terno dress made with Victorian lace, pina colada, and georgette fabric. This was designed by fashion designer Lesley Mobo, and partnered with the shoes made by Lila Almario. Take a closer look, your eyes will surely dazzle from the amazing patterns of these clothing.

Risa Hontiveros

And now here comes Senator Risa Hontiveros with her humble baro’t saya that perfectly reflects the Filipiniana look. The outfit was made more dashing with the handwoven Tikog bag from the province of Samar.

Imee Marcos

And of course, the endless portrayal of their family’s inclination to agriculture, Senator Imee Marcos showed her Edgan Buyan terno and pants with a printed design. The outfit was made by Jan Garcia.

Grace Poe

Lastly, Senator Grace Poe showed her terno clothing by Kaayos Modern Mindanao. The wearing dress is made of handwoven textile of Sabangan Inabel Weavers that featured the creation of Tboli tribe in Lake Sebu.
