Global Women Who RULE a new way to celebrate Women’s Month now in its 2nd year

It’s Women’s Month once again and, together with The New Channel or TNC, we’ll be holding the 2nd Global Women Who RULE summit. As with last year’s event, we’ve gathered women of all backgrounds from around the world, to get as varied and holistic a perspective as we can of the Filipina of 2022.

The past year has been momentous for Filipinas, gaining high recognition in two (2) global fields. The Philippines’ first Olympic gold, won by Hidilyn Diaz, showed that, despite male athletes being largely more known and popular in the country, women also excel and can display their physical prowess on the global stage. And the Philippines’ first Nobel laureate, Maria Ressa, earned the Peace prize for her efforts in independent journalism. Both were presented with unique hurdles along the way, as women, and both endured and achieved their personal triumphs, as women. Turning things around, in ways only they can, in a society that is, unfortunately, still not used to seeing women come out on top.

Global Women Who Rule

In this GWWR summit, as with last year’s, we invited women-leader speakers to share their own stories, of both struggle and success, and what guidance they can provide, for fellow women.

Though this month and this summit are celebrations of all that women can be and what we can achieve, we wish for everyone to take something away from this, as the inspiration, motivation, and guidance you may gain are lessons for a lifetime, no matter who you are.

Apple Manansala

Firstly, these stories are not just the speakers’ stories, they’re everyone’s. Their struggles are women’s struggles. Their triumphs are the triumphs of every Filipino anywhere in the world. These women leaders may come from all sorts of places and backgrounds, but we can all relate to them in the most basic sense, as women, and as Filipinos. You’re not alone in your journey, even when you feel physically and mentally checked out at times.
Next is that there is always a chance for everything to change for you. Not everyone found their success in the same place and at the same time. It can happen when you least expect it. What’s important is what you do when the opportunity arrives.

In relation to opportunities is a lesson in perseverance and dedication. Sometimes, you just have to keep at it until the time is right, but it won’t come if you stop trying. As they say, you miss all of the shots you don’t take.

But in the end, you must stay true to yourself. Your journey may take all sorts of twists and turns, but not all opportunities are for you. They can come to anyone, even those whom they are not fit for. What you’ve got may not last long if it doesn’t mesh with your values and principles.

Learn what makes our 22 Filipino Women-leader profiles (speakers) tick, listen to their stories, experiences, and lessons in our 6-hour long summit, this 26th of March 2022, Saturday, from 1 PM to 7 PM PHT.
