LRT-2 offers free rides to women on Tuesday

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced to give free LRT-2 rides and special treats to women on Tuesday, March 8.

According to an LRTA press release, LRT-2 will be offering free rides at any LRT-2 station. The peak hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 9:am and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm.

In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross-Marikina and Manila Chapters, they will be also conducting the following medical services:

  • Blood Typing Test
  • Blood Pressure Checking
  • Random Blood Sugar Test

Moreover, these services are available at Recto and Araneta Center-Cubao stations from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“These activities aim to honor and recognize the indispensable role of women in our society as well as reaffirm DOTR and LRTA’s commitment to gender equality and women empowerment,” said LRTA Administrator Jeremy Regino.

Guided by its Gender and Development Committee (GAD), LRTA “ensures the provision of gender-responsive rail services to the riding public.”

Last Tuesday, March 1, the LRT-2 has also given a one-day unlimited pass to vaccinated passengers.
