DPR GANG: Get to know the Dream Perfect Regime
You might be looking for the perfect dream in the Korean music industry. So here’s DPR and get to know their regime.
Dream Perfect Regime is an independent label based in Seoul, South Korea. DPR, which stands for Dream Perfect Regime, is a multi-genre musical and visual collective. The label consists of nine individuals who aim to engage all audiences by creating an original audiovisual experience.
The four founders of the company, DPR IAN, LIVE, CREAM, and REM attach their names with the initials “DPR” from the label. While for those people wondering about the meaning behind DPR, DPR LIVE shared it in an interview with Billboard in March 2018:
“We’re perfecting our dreams, it’s a regime; we’re coming up to take over.”
Furthermore, the crew are experts in a variety of sectors including marketing, directing, and production. They produce, direct, edit, and create all kinds of visual works in addition to curating artists with a range of musical influences and musical backgrounds.
The DPRs who started the Gang
DPR +IAN
Christian Yu, popularly known by his stage name DPR IAN founded the Dream Perfect Regime. He is also the director and chief editor of DPR. Moreover, he handles visual production and is frequently referred to as a creative genius.
IAN showcases his talent as the visual director of DPR LIVE’s music videos as well as through projects for other artists. Some of his works are HOLUP! by Bobby, Movie Shoot by Loco, BODY by MINO, and WAKE ME UP by Taeyang.
Other than this, DPR IAN performs and has released two albums Moodswings In This Order and the recently Moodswings In To Order. He also collaborated with CL in his song No Blueberries and CL’s MV of +5 STAR+.
DPR LIVE
Coming to you live is Hong Da-bin, famously known as DPR LIVE. . He is a singer-rapper that serves as the compositor and music director in the Dream Perfect Regime. He focuses on their label’s tracks and albums.
Live has released one studio album and made collaborations with Sik-K, Punchnello, Owen, and Flowsik in 2016 with Eung Freestyle. He also did Gravity with DPR CREAM in 2019 and Se It Off with League of Legends this year.
His tagline “Coming to you live” became well known in the music industry as well as his “DPR, we gang, gang.” While some of his popular songs are Jasmine, Jam & Butterfly, and KISS ME.
DPR CREAM
The creator of many of the DPR’s musical masterpieces is DPR CREAM or Kim Hyung-mo. He holds the title of a music producer in Dream Perfect Regime.
DPR CREAM is renowned for his prodigious originality and talent as a pianist in particular. He took a huge role in DPR LIVE’s debut album Coming To You Live. He produced the EP’s Cheese N Wine, Laputa, Know Me, the Interlude, and To Myself. He also worked on Martini Blue and Text Me from Her, as well as the single Playlist.
Although CREAM was already in charge of the instrumentals, he occasionally sang as well. He also appeared in HIPHOPPLAYA alongside Lee Young-ji, a South Korean rapper.
DPR REM
Scott Kim or DPR REM is the creative director and executive producer of Dream Perfect Regime. He oversees all the management-related decisions. He also handles their label’s merchandise.
He collaborated with f(x’s) Amber Liu on their WhatthePineapple YouTube channel. He also contributed to the making of her music video BORDERS and even appears in Other People along with the DPR team.
In an interview with Teen Vogue on 2021, DPR REM mentioned how they work collectively:
“We do that pretty much as a team. Not just Ian’s, but any other member that’s putting out music within us, we always are together in the studio…We stick to that, like, family culture, and we just kind of have everything go with the flow of it. We’re listening to everybody’s opinions.”
Aside from the collective efforts of the whole crew to make beautiful music and visuals, DPR is a family. DPR is not just a group of artists but is pretty much a gang bringing their dream and regime to the world.
