A real influencer: President Nadine and her advocacies

If you enjoy browsing the internet and have an interest in the entertainment industry, you probably already know who ‘President Nadine’ is. Who is she? Why is she dubbed president?

Nadine Lustre famously known for her moniker ‘President Nadine’, is an actress, singer, and a philanthropist I must say, who has had a profound influence on a lot of people, especially her followers. You might recognize her as Eya from the film Diary ng Panget, Lea from On The Wings of Love, and Lyra from her most recent main role in Deleter. But for those who like to call her by her moniker, she is an outspoken, straightforward artist who they are looking up to. Why? Simply because she is making sense.

Lustre, like many other artists, has social media accounts, but aside from personal use, it’s worth noting that she’s been using her platforms to propagate the causes she supports. And take not, you know that not every artist in the show business industry is as vocal as she is. She’s vocal about a lot of things. She has this very empowered aura that when she talks about her advocacies her followers tend to follow. Thus, many people admire her for being able to inspire her followers in even the most simple ways.

If you are one of her fans, you know what causes she is fighting for. But for those who aren’t familiar, let me introduce you to President Nadine’s advocacies!

Environmental sustainability

Just recently, Lustre was recognized as the honorary park ranger of Masungi Georeserve due to his active participation in environmental sustainability campaign in the area. In one of her most recent YouTube vlogs, Nadine talked about the Masungi Georeserve and how the people can help in conserving this wonderful habitat. That vlog also showed clips of her removing weeds to preserve the moisture of some parts of the nature preserve with plants. Apart from this, she takes part in some tree-planting activities and encourages her fans to also do this or join any other reforestation initiative.

Additionally, you’ll observe that the majority of Nadine’s Instagram posts revolve around Siargao Island. The actress had been living there for quite a few years now and she’s not just there for the sake of residing. She’s doing wonders through joining environmental drives.

In case you need convincing, here are a few proofs of how much President Nadine loves the planet we are living in!

Animal welfare

The importance of animal welfare is linked to President Nadine’s demand to safeguard the environment. Nadine is so concerned for all animals that she changed to a greener diet. She switched to a pescatarian diet and followed veganism. Then, stopped eating meat and now solely consumes plant-based cuisine. She is promoting the causes she is passionate about while keeping her body healthy. She can do both, slay! Additionally, Nadine no longer purchases anything leather since she became a vegan. Proof that she’s willing to be the living proof of her advocacy.

Mental health awareness

Towards her campaign for a better world, Nadine did not disregard how important the mental state of an individual is. As many would say, our mental health is just as essential as our physical health.

If there’s one cause that’s really close to Nadine’s heart, I believe this is it. Nadine has suffered from depression and anxiety, and lost her brother, who was thought to have committed suicide, a few years ago. These incidents drove her to speak up and advocate for mental health.

Last year, she became part of an online platform ‘Mind You’ as a celebrity investor. It’s a platform where people who aim to seek professional help could go and have access to mental health experts. Normalizing mental health issues, in Nadine’s beliefs, could have a big impact in breaking the stigma.

Nadine has taken part in several mental health initiatives, including the Mental Health Gala, where she dressed empowered. Her makeup business Lustrous x BYS Cosmetics also has a 3-minute advertising video that addressed various mental health issues.
