MUST TRY: Hidden Taho Bar in Pasay City

Taho has always been an all-time Filipino favorite snack. This Chinese store in Pasay City put a twist on this sweet snack by offering different toppings.

Taho is made out of fresh soft tofu, arnibal, and small sago pearls. Usually sold by street vendors in the morning, part of the fun in buying is running after the seller. If you’re into this sweet snack and curious about what it would taste like with different topics, be sure to try TiongHwa’s cold taho!

A taho haven bar

TiongHwa Food Products has been manufacturing soy products since 2004. “Our primary aim is to deliver Soya foods at affordable prices without compromising the taste and quality of the product.” their website read.

Located at Cartimar Shopping Center in Pasay City, TiongHwa is open from 6 AM to 6 PM every Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, they are open from 6 AM to 5 PM, and on Sundays, their business hour is from 7 AM to 3 PM.

They assure that their products are healthy and preservative-free. TiongHwa sells firm tofu, soft tofu, silk tofu, winter melon tea, and sweetened and unsweetened soymilk. But their taho is something that keeps their customers coming back for more.

Taho taste-test

During my visit, I tried their barley, plain, with brown pearls, and fresh mango. As someone who loves this, it is a refreshing take to eat them with toppings other than sago. Contrary to the usual hot taho we eat, this one is perfect for summer because they serve it cold.

Their arnibal is not too sweet that lets you eat more than one order. I really enjoy the brown pearl because it feels like I’m eating taho ala milk tea style with the chewy pearls. The barley is new to my palate and tastes nutty. The fresh mango is a cool combination of the sweet fruit kicked in with the tasty taho. Aside from enjoying the taste, they have a big serving!

Multiple toppings!

The best feature of this taho bar is serving their product with multiple topping options. They have seven regular toppings such as barley, peanut, red beans, ube cubes, white pearl, brown pearl, and kidney beans. They also have a special fruit topping on their menu which is the fresh mango.

For only P35, you can taste their classic plain taho. A taho with one regular topping is P60. If you’re feeling experimental and would love to mix and match different toppings, you can add P25 for another topping.

Cozy place

TiongHwa has a cozy store, with an air-conditioned dining area for their customers. Aside from eating cold snacks, visitors can also purchase various soy products. They also offer siopaos, siomai, and a variety of snacks such as fish roe rolls, prawn rolls, mushroom balls, pillow fish cakes, cuttlefish balls, and more.
