Honkai Star Rail: 5 Beginner Mistakes to Avoid

Honkai Star Rail, the latest addition to the games of Holoverse, comes from the same game developers responsible for major titles like Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Tears of Themis. This exciting Space fantasy RPG invites players to embark on an extraordinary adventure aboard a cosmic train, promising a journey filled with wonders.

However, newcomers to the turn-based RPG genre may find themselves less acquainted with its mechanics, resulting in significant mistakes during their initial adventures into the outer space realm. No worries, continue reading because you are in the right place, we are here to help you start your journey in the world of Honkai Star Rail!

Honkai Star Rail: Common Beginner Mistakes

1. Spending your Stellar jades on Permanent banner

While the Permanent Banner in Honkai Star Rail may appear really tempting, it is important to consider before investing your hard-earned Stellar Jades. Spending StellarJades in the Permanent Banner comes at the expense of saving resources for future event banners. By allocating your in-game currencies wisely and saving for event banners, you increase your chances of obtaining rare and powerful characters that can greatly enhance your gameplay experience. Also, keep in mind that you can choose a free 5-star character after 300 pulls!

2. Disregarding your Early-Game Characters

Surprisingly, your 4-Star characters can significantly help you in navigating the early stages of the game. These characters serve as excellent alternatives for completing story missions, particularly our MC who excels as a reliable physical damage dealer. Additionally, by doing missions, you can obtain Eidolon upgrades, allowing you to transform your main protagonist into an E6 character that deals a decent amount of damage.

3. Using All your Fuels and Trailblaze power on Relic Farming

Relic farming heavily relies on RNG mechanics to obtain rewards. Relics are often acquired through randomized drops, meaning you are not guaranteed the main stat and the sub stats you want to get. Energy is an important resource in the game, although it recharges overtime. It is crucial to use it wisely to maximize your overall progress. Using all of your energy to relic farming can deplete this resource quickly, leaving you with fewer opportunities to engage in other activities, such as character upgrades, or event participation.

4 Don’t Ignore the In-game Shop in Honkai Star Rail

The shop offers a variety of valuable features that can greatly help your progress in Honkai Star Rail. It allows you to purchase in-game currency and also has a range of products available for buying using Embers and Starlight, which are obtained from gacha. Also, keep in mind that you can exchange for five star Lightcones so be sure to mind how you spend your starlight.

5. Aim your attacks and mind character positioning

Knowing where and when to aim your attacks can help in maximizing your damage output in HSR. For instance, if you have a character like Trailblazer, who possesses AOE damage, aiming for a target in the middle (assuming they have physical weakness) can result in additional enemies being affected by your attack rather than aiming for the far-end. Also, when entering battle, if you have a preservation character, make sure to put them at either the first or last position. Next to them, should be your character who has the most HP,  it can be your healer. This way, when enemies deal AOE DMG, only your shield-creator and abundance character will tank the DMG.

Keep the journey going, Trailblazers! As you explore deeper in the world of Honkai Star Rail, avoiding common beginner mistakes is important for a smoother and more rewarding gaming experience! See you!
