Our Favorite Duo Is Back

Prosecutor Hwang Si-mok (Cho Seung-woo) and police inspector Han Yeo-jin (Bae Doo-na) reunite to uncover the truth behind intertwined cases. With the story starting two years later, the characters have been working separately with Si-mok in the city of Tongyeong and Yeo-jin getting promoted and working in the National Police Agency. So why do we love their characters so much? Bae Doo-na explained, “Hwang Si-mok and Han Yeo-jin are people we would really like to see in the real world.” She’s right, it’s definitely fulfilling to see righteous people seek the truth amidst deep corruption.

The Return of Characters You Love… to Hate

Seo Dong-jae (Lee Joon-hyuk) and Lee Yeon-jae (Yoon Se-a) were very intriguing characters that sometimes got on our nerves in the first season. They’re back and they may or may not have changed. Lee Joon hyuk shared, “Seo Dong-jae is still ambitious, he wants to be a good prosecutor, a good father, and he works very hard.” Yoon Se-a added, “My character undergoes the most change. After her husband passes away, she becomes the head of Hanjo Group and becomes stronger to protect her company.”

Curious New Characters

Choi Bit (Jeon Hye-jin) is the head of the Investigative Structure Reform Unit at the National Police Agency and is Han Yeo-jin’s immediate superior. Chief Prosecutor Woo Tae-ha (Choi Moo-sung) is the head of the Criminal Legislation Unit at the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office which Hwang Si-mok is called to join. Both Jeon Hye-jin and Choi Moo-sung expressed their happiness about joining the respected and beloved series. They also noted how comfortable the other actors made them feel and how they received help from the main leads. Furthermore, Jeon Hye-jin revealed, “The actors also don’t know what’s going to happen until they get the script, so I wondered what was going to happen each time.”

Similar But Different Feel

Director Park Hyeon-seok disclosed that he’s “a big fan of season 1” and everyone “will work hard to live up to the expectations.” Cho Seung-woo shared that the second season will feel similar but exhibit a different texture. The director also hinted that season one had a forest, but in season 2 there’s fog in addition to the forest meaning that the characters will be investigating under more difficult conditions. The new season will be brimming with twists and turns as things are not as they seem. Don’t miss out on the highly anticipated return of Stranger with the second season beginning on August 15, only on Netflix!
