In an interview, she shared the reason behind her love for volunteering. She also said that it started when a priest encouraged her to serve in their parish. Although reluctant at first, she eventually regained the confidence to serve and share her time. She, then, started to extend her help in her village. This comes with the different community programs that their homeowner’s association continued to conduct. Marcadejas considers herself as a late bloomer when it comes to volunteering.

Despite that, she acknowledges that no one is too young or too old to volunteer. Through her professional experience, she remains passionate about sharing her knowledge. She also loves sharing her values with younger and impressionable people. Eager to help as much as she can, she shares her talent and treasures. She does this through outreach activities in situations where help becomes necessary. Her care for others continues to guide her desire to volunteer. Aside from that, she also hopes to instill the same desire in the people she helped along the way.

Most of the residents who lined up for Dr. Marcadeja’s dental check-up were kids  as going to clinics posed a challenge to families because of the lockdown

Dr. Marcadejas joins the home of the Good GuysSMDC, not just as an investor and resident of Trees Residences, but also as a partner in taking care of fellow residents. Last February 19, 2021, she volunteered together with the other doctors and nurses in one of the Good Guys programs—the Health and Wellness Caravan hosted by SMDC in partnership with SM Foundation. She gave free consultations to residents so that they, too, will prioritize oral hygiene—which most people often overlook in achieving overall health especially in this time of the pandemic.

Dr. Rogelyn Marcadejas’ work experience with the Good Guys

The Good Guys is SMDC’s campaign for nurturing happy, healthy, secure, and thriving neighborhoods that support one another with the hopes of building a community of Good Guys. Aside from developing integrated lifestyle districts for work-life balance and well-appointed amenities perfect for co-sharing spaces, the campaign also translates in the form of all-inclusive programs for SMDC residents like the Health and Wellness Caravan where Dr. Marcadejas is a volunteer doctor. Finally, when asked to share about her volunteer work experience with The Good Guys, Dr. Marcadejas shared:

“To be a Good Guy means you are capable of doing good things not because it is required nor obligated. It also means that you are capable of taking care of people beyond your household. With volunteering or doing any act of kindness, big or small, a good guy can make a difference and can inspire other people to do the same. I am glad that I am also able to fulfill this in my second home, with SMDC.”
