An honest review of Ever Bilena’s EB Pro Collection

I love makeup even though I’m really not that good with it. As a little girl, I didn’t really have an opportunity to sit down and watch people do their makeup. But, as I grew up, I would watch people on YouTube do theirs. It was fascinating to watch them highlight the beauty that was already there. As an adult, I’ve fallen in love with makeup. So, when Ever Bilena sent their EB Pro Collection, I was excited to try it out.

An honest review of Ever Bilena’s EB Pro Collection

Admittedly, my usual makeup routine only consists of the following: a tinted sunscreen; a lipstick that I would use as an eye shadow, blush, and well, duh, a lipstick; loose powder; brow gel; and, sometimes mascara. It’s convenient and subscribes to the whole skinimalism kind of thing. When I decided to try out the entire collection, I had just woken up and forgot to even document the process. So, I used it again for a short getaway with my family.

Mattifying Primer (Rating: 9/10)

After I did my usual four-step skincare routine, I put on the EB Pro First Step Mattifying Primer which glided smoothly on my skin. It blurs the appearance of pores and helps makeup to stay on. Of course, I’ve heard of primers before that promise flawless makeup and skin that looks like an IRL Instagram filter. The mattifying primer is best applied with fingers instead of a brush. The warmth of the fingers helps in melting it into the skin. This, then, makes for easier application and better absorption.

Liquid Foundation (Rating: 8/10), Stick Foundation (Rating: 9/10)

The collection has two different foundations. The first one is the EB Pro Flawless Foundation. This gives medium to full coverage for a flawless look. It has a lightweight finish that lasts for hours without even reapplying. Meanwhile, the other one is the EB Pro Studio Finish Stick Foundation. This, on the other hand, is a portable foundation that creates moderate coverage with a natural matte finish.

Personally, I prefer the foundation stick more than the liquid one. It looks better on my skin and covers blemishes. I’m always so scared of wearing liquid foundation as it tends to exacerbate texture, become shiny, and make skin start caking. Although this doesn’t happen with the EB Pro Flawless Foundation, I find myself gravitating towards the EB Pro Studio Finish Stick Foundation more.

Aside from that, the Beige shade of the stick foundation looks better on my brown skin than the same shade of the liquid one. Then, I put on cream blush and cream contour on my cheeks. After that, I used the EB Matte Face Powder that they sent along with the collection to set the foundation.

Brow Liner (Rating: 9/10)

I haven’t waxed, plucked, or threaded my brows for a long time. So, shaping them has to stay through makeup. Personally, styling them is an important step as it frames my eyes to their fullness. The EB Pro Brow Liner in the shade Fling helps out with the precise shaping of my brows. I also used it to fill in gaps, especially since I have a scar on my right brow bone. Plus, it’s super user-friendly and makes it easy to blend and correct mistakes.

Eyeshadow Palette (Rating: 8/10)

Eyeshadows are tricky for me. I’ve always used at least one shade from an entire palette to complete my makeup look. But, recently, I’ve been playing around with different shades. I do the same thing with the EB Pro Eyeshadow Palette, I play around with the shades in the same way that I usually do. I use a neutral shade on my entire lid as a base, a darker one on the outer corner, and a shimmery one on my inner corner. Then, I pat them together to blend them to make everything look perfect.

Eyeliner (Rating: 5/10)

After the eyeshadow, I put eyeliner on my waterline. Sometimes, I play around and put some kind of artistic arc on my lid. However, I have a problem with the EB Pro Eye Liner. It was advertised as waterproof, smudge-proof, and long-wearing. However, it smudges really easily especially after sweating. Sure, it lasted long, and even when I showered, the smudged liner is still present under my eyes which made me look like a deranged raccoon.

Mascara (Rating: 5/10)

I love mascara, especially since my lashes aren’t that long. Ever Bilena released their EB Pro Power Curl Mascara which, for me, is just okay. It wasn’t waterproof as advertised and lumps up really easily. Although it doesn’t show in the photo, there was an entire lump of mascara in the middle that put a dot on my eyeshadow, ruining it effectively. The bigger brush made it very hard to control, especially with the large handle. I would rather use a skinny mascara that offers both precision and lengthening benefits as it allows me to get closer to the eye.

Lip Gloss (Rating: 8/10)

The last thing I got from the collection is the EB Pro Vinyl Lip Gloss. It works on both bare lips or on top of lipstick. I put it on top of an EB Matte Lipstick in the shade Sienna. Thankfully, the lip gloss provides a long-lasting shine and plump-looking lips. I tried to build it up for a higher shine. It’s effective for dry lips and ideal for an everyday look.

Highlighter (Rating: 8/10)

Since I have naturally oily skin, I don’t use highlighter that much as it would just make me look oilier than I already do. Instead of putting it on my cheekbone or the tip of my nose, I put the EB Pro Glow-out Highlighter in the shade Spotlight on the inner corner of my eye to add to the shimmer on my lids. Then, I finish everything with a setting spray. That way, I could give the products a chance to stay on my skin.

Angela’s Verdict:

The EB Pro Collection was overall an average one. There are definitely hits and misses in the collection. Although I wouldn’t clamor over it, I am actually glad to have them in my possession. Personally, I would buy the stick foundation again when this one runs outs. I loved the consistency and how well the shade matches my skin. The eyeshadow palette and highlighter were good ones, too. The shimmery matte shades will definitely be perfect for the holiday season and for fancy events. Aside from that, I also loved the lip gloss as it actually stayed on my lips longer than I thought it would, as well as the brow liner which helped out with the shaping of my unkempt brows. Overall, the eyeliner and the mascara are the ones that I probably won’t touch again. But, besides that, the EB Pro Collection was a nice addition to my overflowing makeup cabinet.
