Satisfy your pandesal cravings with these mouth-watering flavors

Pandesal

There is new food craze in town everyone is craving for — the ube-cheese pandesal. It was late 2019 when the food trend began, and its popularity has grown exponentially during the quarantine period. These soft buns stuffed with an equal blend of sweet ube halaya and salty cream cheese have become the comfort food for most of us as we try to cope this pandemic.

But did you know that our favorite breakfast buddy also comes with various flavors? Flavours by Yna offers PandeMatcha or green tea-flavored pandesal with matcha filling, and PandeTsokoNutella, chocolate pandesal infused with Nutella hazelnut spread. You can also try PandeButternut or butternut pandesal filled with peanut butter,  PandeVelvet (red velvet pandesal) and PandeBerry (blueberry pandesal) that are both stuffed with full-flavored cream cheese.

The New Pandesal Queen

In an interview with PEP.ph, Rose Sharina Ramos, or “Yna” to her friends and customers, one of the most-popular sellers of flavoured pandesal, shared how she started her bakeshop online. The 28-year-old admitted that she has always been a fan of ube pandesal.

“It all started as a craving for the usual ube halaya pandesal I see online. I made it and it turned out pretty easy. It tasted good, too,” she told PEP.

“I made batches for family and friends, which I did not intend to sell. Mahilig lang talaga ako magpadala ng mga luto and baked food ko sa kanila, and ask if masarap. Then, they encouraged me to sell online,” she added

However, Yna reinvented her pandesal with more flavour choices to choose from. She revealed how Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin 1999 movie Hey Babe inspired her to try different flavors.

“lt dawned on me at three o’clock in the morning while watching Hey Babe on iWantTV. In that movie, Nelson (Marvin Agustin) loves to give Abigail (Joline Magdangal) colored bread. That gave me the idea of creating more flavors,” she recalled.

Newly-launched business

In fact, Flavours by Yna was launched just few weeks ago, May 23, 2020. Her husband Mark and their helpers Maritess and Carrie have been helping her put up her online bakeshop.

“Orders are good since we opened. On our first week, we already distributed 600 boxes of pandesals,” Yna proudly shared to PEP.

“We bake every day. We only deliver freshly-baked pandesals,” Yna assured the freshness of her pandesals.

“But we have a one-day lead time before the delivery.”

One box containing 12 pieces [of pandesal] costs PHP240.
