Spenser Confidential to premiere on Netflix this March

March will be an action-packed month for Netflix as it sets to premiere Spenser Confidential. It is an action-drama film that features stars such as Mark Wahlberg, Winston Duke, Alan Arkin, Iliza Shlesinger, Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron, and Austin Post.

According to What’s On Netflix, “Spenser Confidential is an upcoming Netflix Original crime-mystery, based on the novel Wonderland but adapted for the film by Sean O’Keefe. Directed by Peter Berg, this is the fifth time that Berg and actor Mark Whalberg have worked together. They previously worked on Lone Survivor, Patriot’s Day, Deepwater Horizon and Mile 22. The Netflix movie will be the third time that the character of Spenser has been adapted, the first came in a television series in the 1980s on ABC, the second adaptation was three made-for-TV movies from 1999 to 2001 that aired on A&E.”

The Plot

Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) — an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it — just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good. But first he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with a promising amateur. That’s Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was.

When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice. From director Peter Berg, SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL is an action-comedy co-starring Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron and Austin Post. Inspired by Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland, a best-selling novel by Ace Atkins.
