End of An Era: Ash Ketchum and Pikachu’s Pokemon adventures come to an end after 25 years!

Ash Ketchum and Pikachu’s adventure began in April 1997 as the first ever episode of the Pokemon animated series. It was titled “Pokemon: I Choose You” and was aired in Japan .

Loosely based on its game counterparts, it is considered one of the most successful in both the Japanese and the international markets. And, it is also one of the longest-running anime ever made.

25 years of Pokemon Adventure

Over the span of 25 years, the series was split into 25 seasons with over 1,200 episodes. It also has 22 animated films with Ash and Pikachu as protagonists. But, all good things have to come to an end.

It was announced in December of last year that Pokemon will finally retire Ash and Pikachu as the main protagonist of the Anime series.

One last adventure! Aim To Be A Pokemon Master

As a send-off to their adventure, after the events of the Pokemon: Ultimate Journeys’ both Ash and Pikachu are set for their last adventures in “Pokemon Aim To Be A Pokemon Master”. It is an 11 special episode mini-series that started airing last January 13.

This series lets Ash travel again with his original travel companions Brock and Misty. Moreover, it also lets him reunite and rotate the Pokemon he had from his previous adventures. It is a take that gives so much nostalgia to the viewer. It could be the real meaning of being a Pokemon Master.

With the series about to conclude this coming March 24, the anime has been heavily promoting the final episode. It shows a montage of Ash and Pikachu’s 25 years’ worth of adventure, all across Japan.

Goodbye Ash and Pikachu

One of the most talked about on Twitter is its 1-minute and 30-second promotional video. It can be seen in a metro station in Japan. The wall is covered with nostalgic video clips from the entire anime, from the very beginning of Ash and Pikachu’s journey.

Netizens and loyal followers of the Pokemon franchise have been expressing their thoughts on this event, with the episode titled revealed for last episode to be “The Rainbow and the Pokémon Master!”

Yes, this is going to be the last time we will see Ash and Pikachu take on their Pokemon adventure, and probably be a tear-jerking night for those who followed them since the very beginning. Our hearts go to all the “Batang 90s” and most especially to all the Pokemon lovers out there!

A new Pokemon animated series is set to launch by April 2023 with new characters Roy and Liko replacing Ash and Pikachu.

Gandang Kara – The first Filipino Voice actor of Ash Ketchum

We had a chance to chat with Ms. Klariz Magboo (aka DJ Gandang Kara), the original Filipino voice actor of Ash Ketchum. She said she felt sad when she heard the news. Because, Pokemon has become a big part of her life for a very long time.

Offcourse I am sad kase yung Pokemon ay nakasama ko ng matagal na panahon since I was still in school up to the point na maging Radio DJ na ako and ako ang maging Filipino voice ni Ash.

Gandang Kara also cited that by dubbing the Pokemon anime, she has witnessed the fun-filled and colorful adventures of Ash and Pikachu, their struggles, and how they get through them.

She also vividly remembers dubbing a scene from a movie where Ash has turned into stone, she was also crying in the dubbing room along with Pikachu.

Pokemon bagged two nominations in the 4th VP Choice Awards

Moreover, Pokemon is nominated in the 4th VP Choice Awards in two categories. It has been nominated as the Anime Series of the Year and RPG (Role-Playing Game) of the Year. Winning these awards might be a good send-off to Ash and Pikachu as well. Will they bag the trophies? Find out this coming March 29, 2023, at the 4th VP Choice Awards red Carpet and Awards Night.
