Everything we know about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

New region, new story, and new Pokémons! The Pokémon Company has announced the 9^th generation of the Pokémon franchise released worldwide on November 18, 2022. Developed by Game Freak, it was quite unexpected for a new Pokémon game after Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and the Pokémon Legends: Arceus was just released in a year.

New Region

Same with previous generations, the game will have a new region similar to real-world locations. The new region has many similarities to Spain. The new region hasn’t been named yet.

New Starters

At the beginning of a trainer’s adventure, they will choose one of the three starters. Same with the previous generation, the starters fall under core elements; grass, fire, and water.

The grass cat; Sprigatito, the fire crocodile; Fuecoco, and the water Duckling; Quaxly will be the new starters. These further prove the theory that it will be based on Spain with the use of phonemes similar to the Spanish language.

New Legendaries

The second trailer teased the two legendaries of the game, Koraidon in the Pokémon Scarlet, and Miraidon in the Pokémon Violet. The two are still a mystery but it’s easy to notice that both of them look like a motorcycle. Based on the game’s announcement trailer and these legendaries’ designs, time travel might be another theme of the game. Koraidon looks like a pre-historic dinosaur with feathers and webbed feet. Miraidon on the other hand looks modern with jet engines and a robotic exoskeleton.

Lechonk! And other new Pokémons

An instant fan favorite, Lechonk will be on the roster for the new region. This pig-like creature captured the hearts of many fans, especially in the Philippines. By the name itself, it resembles a delicious Filipino dish, lechon.

Pawmi will be the 9th gen electric rodent. It’s cute and huggable that can definitely sell plushies. Smoliv will be in the roster which resembles an olive.

New Game Features

Scarlet and Violet will be the first open-world role-playing game in the game series. It is announced that Co-op mode or multiplayer mode of up to 4 people will be included in the game. Fans are excited about this new feature and what other new features will be added to the game.
