PH Beauty queens unite to fight for LGBT+ community with I Am campaign
True beauty goes beyond the physical traits. We, at Village Pipol, are grateful for the voices who joined us in demanding for equal rights among the LGBT community via our ‘I Am’ campaign.
These past few days have been especially difficult for the gay community as they continue their plight against discrimination and violence. This year’s Pride month might be different and more challenging than the others, we all in our own ways can contribute to their fight.
Philippine beauty queens have also joined in using their platform to raise awareness and promote proper representations among their sphere of influence, each using one word that describes their truth.
Proving that they are more than meets the eye are Miss World Philippines 2018 Chanel Morales, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2019 Katrina Llegado, Miss Eco International 2018 Cythia Thomalia, BB Pilipinas Supranational 2018 Jehza Huelar, Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong, Miss Progress Health International 2019 Sarah Joson, Philipines Earth 2019 Janelle Tee-Miss, Miss World Philippines Michelle Dee, Binibining Pilipinas Candidate Samantha Bernardo and Vickie Marie Rushton, Miss Universe Candidates Sandra Lemonon, Maricres Castro, and Graciella Lehmann, Binibining Pilipinas Candidate 33 Alexandria Faith Garcia, Binibining Pilipinas 29 Honey Cartasano.
We believe that persisting and resisting together using each of our strengths are vital for the community and whatever contribution, big or small, already gives us a step forward.
