Beyond Pride: True Colors Campaign explains what a modern LGBTQ+ really is
Pride has always been a huge part of Village Pipol Magazine. For the past few years, we have continued to promote the campaign, Beyond Pride. This year’s theme True Colors Campaign revolves around the modern LGBTQ+ and the stereotypes they continue to face. The campaign also details the varying definitions of a modern LGBTQ+, narrating that they fight against the generalization of their sexual orientation. Aside from that, they also battle invalidation and nullification of their gender expression and gender identity.
Beyond Pride: True Colors Campaign explains what a modern LGBTQ+ really is
Even as June had already come to an end, Pride will not cease nor will we halt their fight against inequality and discrimination. Despite the unaccepting environment, thousands of LGBTQ+ individuals live their authentic selves and display their true colors. A modern LGBTQ+ helps to eradicate stereotypes by owning them and giving them a new definition. They also point out that queer people are born queer. Just as nobody chose to experience the discrimination that comes along with it.
As the year progresses, a modern LGBTQ+ does not limit themselves with the label attached to their stereotypes.
They do not limit themselves from displaying their true selves and start making a better world. They create a discussion about the issues that they continue to face in our society. Aside from that, they also understand that gender and sexuality remain fluid that they can change over time. They understand that delivering a message that an LGBTQ+ person’s sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression do not define their whole being. A modern LGBTQ+ can wear whatever they want, do whatever they want, and be whoever they want without fearing what other people say about them.
Beyond Pride allowed tons of members and allies of the community to come together and help eradicate these stereotypes.
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!
