Art holds freedom that defies limitations. It comes in infinite ways and forms of possibilities, that its beauty and depth is profound. On the other hand, it unfolds its truth and power to souls who dare to master the alchemy of dreams, destiny, and talent. And these souls dwell in the hearts of Kyla and MC Einstein who formed the absolute alchemy of artistry.
Through music, they created an art that touches the souls of anyone who listens to it—a masterpiece that many hearts shall love as they dance through its rhythms and soulful melodies. They also sang words that spoke a thousand messages from the depths of their loving hearts. Kyla and MC bring in LAMBALAK—a song of promises and a genuine vow to their passion and dreams.
Discovering their Destined Chemistry
Growing up as a fan of R&B, which is a bit different from becoming the Hip Hop Charmer he is today, MC Einstein has always looked up to Kyla as the country’s Queen of R&B. He recalls listening to only a few artists in this genre, including her songs, during his years of discovering the vast realm of music and artistry. Little did he know that he would be working with his idol in the next few years from that point. And who would have known that everything will begin in a plain and genuine moment between a fan and his idol?
Nag-start po kasi ‘yan no’ng nagkasama kami sa isang show. And then nagkabatian kami no’ng nasa eroplano na kami—magkatabi kami. Sabi niya [Kyla] ‘Huy, I like your songs. I listen to your songs. [collaborate] naman tayo!’ Doon siya nag-start. Parang yes, of course!
MC Einstein, sharing his cute fanboy moment with Kyla that turned to a complete collaboration as artists
In an airplane ride for a show where MC Einstein and Kyla sat next to each other, a history of artistry was born. They recall the perfect moment, both as a fan and a flattered artist, whose chemistry seems to be destined to begin in a chance encounter. Even Kyla, the queen herself, remembers the same moment and the exact flattered feeling she had from the genuine admiration of MC Einstein towards her and her music.
Kinilig ako kasi bihira lang talaga ngayon sa younger artists na mag-open, like ‘Ate, I love your songs.’ Hindi ko siya naririnig all the time. Natuwa ako, so sabi ko, ‘Alam mo, I have heard some of your songs and your songs are great. Mag-collab tayo.’ Doon na nag-start ‘yon.
Kyla on the chance encounter with MC Einstein in a plane ride
Both believe that destiny made it all possible, emphasizing that from a mere chance encounter came a masterpiece of music that a fan boy wrote for his idol to sing. And their enthusiasm for the same sound allowed their chemistry.
Very particular ako with the sound and the music, and alam ko ‘yong kind of music that MC brings to the table, so I knew right away na magiging maganda ‘tong recording na ‘to. Kasi siyempre di ba, as artists, you don’t just work with people na feeling mo di kayo—kumbaga, not your people. I feel like he’s my kind of artist and person I can work with. So parang ano kami, nasa same tribe.
Kyla on how their similarities in musicality sparked connection between them
Aside from destiny, it was definitely a work of artistic chemistry between them that made the collaboration so smooth and fluid, that they found no struggle since the day they both said yes to working on LAMBALAK. Truly, they discovered the art of destined chemistry.
Kyla & MC Einstein: Mastering the Alchemy of Sounds
Sound holds a power to touch souls and tell a story to the people who listen to it, and so mastering its alchemy magnifies its capacity to convey a message and spark emotions. Kyla and MC Einstein, both great artists of their own, believe in the power of music that held them together and decided to blend their artistry and form sounds that would resonate to the ears and hearts of the people. And there came LAMBALAK—a testament of the undeniable art that the alchemy of their sounds can do.
This song takes its listeners to the perspective of a person who vows to share endless love to the person the song is dedicated to. Despite the negative connotation that its title might give at first, LAMBALAK tells a story of love and promises.
MC Einstein, sharing the message of LAMBALAK
Diving deeper into the song, Kyla sees this masterpiece as a song of reaffirming one’s assurance to keep the love and connection so genuine and romantic that way it is from the beginning. Now that assurance in the name of love is in constant question, LAMBALAK can be anybody’s most genuine anthem to serenade their loved ones and reassure the purity of their intentions and love.
When you hear the song, bibigyan ka niya ng safety and security sa isang tao, na parang you can be home with somebody—somebody can be your home.
Kyla on LAMBALAK as a song of assurance
Being the great storytellers they are, Kyla and MC Einstein deliver the song and its message genuinely. Both of them find themselves in the perspective of the song’s persona—happily in love and committed.
It’s not hard naman to be able to deliver itong song na ‘to kasi, like, in my case, I am very in love—I have a husband, and I can totally associate myself and relate to the song. I know how to deliver.
Kyla on how she is constantly able to deliver LAMBALAK’s message
Meanwhile, MC Einstein felt the song even deeper as he looked forward to one great and special day in his life with his fiancè who would soon be walking down the aisle and exchanging vows with him.
Araw-araw kong nadarama ‘yong buong kanta na ‘to. The main point ng kanta is walang balak mang-iwan, walang balak maging alala so di mo ako magiging memory. So nandiyan lang ako, nakadikit ako, naka-lock lang tayo; habambuhay ‘yan hanggang walang hanggan!
MC Einstein, talking about how LAMBALAK is personal to him
Indeed, their music holds a great force that moves lives and even reassures hearts. This is beyond a collaboration but an alchemy of two great sounds.
Blending the Elements of Artistry
Some may say that the formula to perfection does not exist, but the ability to blend passion, talent, and vision creates an absolute artistry. From MC Einstein’s fan boy dream to collaborate with the country’s Queen of R&B to LAMBALAK’s production with Kyla, both artists shared the same fire and vision for this masterpiece.
Their familiarity to each other’s sound and musicality became an avenue for them to find themselves together in the crossroads of hip hop and R&B. On the other hand, they did not just stay in their own zone but even dared to step into each other’s form of artistry, learning from one another, and combining them with passion to realize the vision they have for this collaboration right from the moment they sat next to each other in an airplane ride.
Even before he wrote the song, I thought this is gonna be cool kasi iba ‘yong style ni MC from the style ng mga iabng naka-collaborate ko before. Also, as an artist, kailangan mo talagang mag-explore. Di ka dapat stuck lang sa isang sound or with the same people you’ve worked with. You have to explore and be open to working with different kinds of artists and sound.
Kyla on being open to exploring music with MC Einstein
Meanwhile, as for MC Einstein, the creative freedom he got from Kyla became instrumental to allowing the song to even become so genuine to the vision during his writing process.
Iyong queen na ang nagbigay ng trust sa ‘yo, and that is one of the biggest compliments na makukuha ko as a songwriter.
MC Einstein, sharing how he and Kyla worked well in LAMBALAK
This masterpiece allowed Kyla to discover and deliver a new sound and unleashed a side of MC Einstein whose dreams as child was to really become a singer. Aside from sharing insights and sounds, LAMBALAK also allowed them to share memories they would forever keep.
MC Einstein, sharing a moment in recroding session he won’t forget
Sabi ko, ‘Ano ba ‘tong batang ‘to?! Ba’t gumugulong na sa sahig?’ Ang galing nila!
Kyla, recalling her memories with MC Einstein during the recording session.
As they finished working on the song, they kept with them a “euphoria” moment that would surely be channeled to energy that their sound in LAMBALAK, which people could enjoy as they look forward to more sounds of Kyla and MC Einstein who used their music, dreams, and eager hearts to create a beautiful sound of art.
They are beyond the country’s Queen of R&B and the town’s Hip Hop Charmer. Kyla and MC Einstein and powerful forces who and alchemists that turned sound, dreams, and passion into an absolute artistry.
