Introducing the 4 Undertones
There are 4 skin undertones: cool, warm, neutral, and olive undertones. If your skin appears reddish or pinkish, then you have a cool undertone, while those who have a yellow or golden complexion have a warm undertone. However if you have a mix of both cool and warm types, you have a neutral undertone. An olive undertone falls somewhere between warm and neutral.
One common misconception is that people think is if you are fair you have a cool tone, and warm if you are tan. However, looking at your complexion is not enough to know your undertone, that’s why there are simple tests that you can do to identify your undertone.

Examine your veins
Looking at the color of your veins specifically on your wrist area can help you find your undertone. If you have greenish veins, it means you may have a warm undertone. Purple or blue veins usually indicate you have a cool tone. People who have a combination of blue and green veins may have a neutral or olive undertone.
Look at your jewelry
Examining which jewelry suits you can also be helpful in finding your undertone. If gold jewelry can enhance your complexion you may have a warm tone, while silver looks good on a cool tone. If you can jump from one piece of jewelry to another, you may have a neutral or olive tone.
White background
Wearing a white shirt or using white paper in natural light can help determine your skin tone. If your face appears reddish and pinkish you have a cool tone. A yellowish and golden appearance means you have a warm tone. And if you have a combination of reddish and yellowish appearance you have a neutral tone. Olive skin tone may look greenish and yellowish when doing this test.
