You Should Know These Things Before “House of the Dragon” Airs

House

It has been three years since Jon Snow, a.k.a. the last living Targaryen, graced our TV screens. But alas, m’lords, m’ladies! HBO will finally break our wheel of miseries with their newest TV show House of the Dragon (HotD).

Here are some of the things that you need to know before you watch HotD, or as some fans call it, House.

Pre-game of Game of Thrones

Yes! You read that right. It is about a game preceding the Game of Thrones (GoT). House is based on another George R.R. Martin book called Fire and Blood.

Introducing the ancestors of Daenerys “Dany” Targaryen, (insert all her titles here), House will start during the reign of Viserys I, 200 years before the war-causing death of Jon Arryn. It will tell the story of The Dance of the Dragons, the first Targaryen civil war, and their fight for authority over Westeros and the Iron Throne. So, for those of you who refuse to watch as they did Dany dirty, worry not. You are not banished from Westeros forever for you will still be able to understand the plot of House without suffering through the last season of Thrones.

Targaryens’ Herstory

If you cannot get enough of boss-lady queens like Cersei, Sansa, Dany, and Margaery of Thrones, House will certainly not disappoint you. This series will have an abundance of powerful females. These are some who are involved in the Dance, one way or another.

Rhaenyra Targaryen –  Promised heir to the Iron Throne. The only daughter of King Viserys’ I and deceased Queen Aemma Arryn.

Allicent Hightower –  Wife and Queen of King Viserys when Aemma Arryn died. She produced sons that will challenge Rhaenyra’s claim to the Iron Throne.

Rhaenys TargaryenThe Queen Who Never Was, Rhaenys’ claim to the throne was overlooked in favor of King Viserys.

Mysaria – Lover of Daemon Targaryen before he married Laena. When the war broke, Mysaria established her own network of spies.

MORE DRAGONS!

We are absolutely sure that we are not the only ones who miss the frightening yet loyal and somewhat adorable pets of the Targaryens. Unlike Thrones, we will be able to meet a few more dragons in House. Confirmed dragons that will be present are:
