The art of letting go for the New Year
Welcoming a new year is where we also look back at things we’ve encountered in the previous months of 2022. We come across different pages that will either engrave or pave a meaningful lesson in our lives. Isn’t it exciting how we are about to face another fresh start in the continuation of our storybooks?
The art of letting go for the New Year
What is your New Year’s Resolution? Let us count the remaining days before we officially embark on a brand new chapter of the following year. Reflect upon the 2022 challenges that we’re able to surpass before hopping onto the adventure that awaits us this 2023. In addition to this, we need to learn the art of letting go.
Some things are meant to hold on, while some things are meant to be given up. Have a look at these issues that I fear is time we should be letting go once the New Year strikes.
Let go of our insecurities.
Nobody is perfect, people will always have their own flaws that make them feel insecure at times. “New year, new me,” that’s what people say as they execute their one-of-a-kind identity just to please the community’s norms. Perhaps we should start embracing our uncertainties instead of getting rid of them this time. May it be our weight, height, skin color, facial features, body hair, posture, and the rest. We were created differently to shine our own beauty.
Let go of toxic people and relationships.
We may hardly notice it, for we are clouded with the illusion of the people we care for. However, once it starts becoming toxic, it is best to run away. It is not worth investing time and attention in those who contribute to our mental stress. Please prioritize your peace of mind above all.
Let go of traditional negativity and stereotypes.
Old habits die hard, just like the famous idiom quotes. But, come on guys, it’s almost the year 2023! Don’t you think that we, as human beings, should progress our mindset toward social issues, as our generation develops? Loosen up, and be open-minded for a more accepting society; making every individual sense its safety and inclusivity within.
Let go of the evil voices in our heads.
Overthinking is probably one of the loudest voices we hear that is hard to shut down. It affects us negatively and sometimes it is out of control, gradually eating up our self-esteem and confidence. This upcoming year, I hope everyone won’t let these evil voices surround our heads, and instead, hear out the enlightenment. It is better to do so, in order to avoid the feeling of “what ifs” and regrets in the end.
Hold onto the wonderful new year of 2023.
We may think to ourselves that spending the rest of 2022 isn’t fulfilling at all times. “I should’ve done better,” or “I should’ve chosen a different route.” — Realizations that we only notice in December’s finale. But, do not worry, our storyline does not end here. In fact, we are just about to unfold another milestone in our remaining years this 2023.
For as long as we are living, we continuously strive and move forward to the next stage. And, letting go is a shining step to free ourselves from the metallic handcuffs that chained our gloomy encounters.
Cheers to a bright New Year! Let’s vow to ourselves to be stronger in the approaching calendar, and let go of the despair in our hearts!
