Immortals of Aveum: EA releases ‘first-person magic shooter’ trailer
Earlier this week, Electronic Arts released a new trailer for its upcoming single-player “first-person magic shooter” Immortals of Aveum. Ascendant Studios is developing the game, which is made up of BAFTA and Game of the Year award-winning industry veterans.
From just the trailer, it’s hard to tell exactly what Immortals of Aveum is going to be like, outside of a standard saving-the-world plot – the characters use a lot of jargon. But here’s EA and Ascendant’s official description of the game from the press release:
“Players experience this visceral and cinematic, story-driven game through the eyes of Jak, as he joins an elite order of battlemages, masters all three colors of magic – blue, green, and red – and decimates legions of enemies with clever chained attacks and well-timed counters. Combining a modern story within a fantasy setting, the world of Aveum is filled with unforgettable characters, fast-paced action, and spell-based combat that defies FPS conventions.”
Despite that, the trailer shows glimpses of Immortals of Aveum, which look very fun. Yes, the magic is essentially a replacement for guns, but the effects are vibrant and flashy.
EA will release Immortals of Aveum on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on July 20th, marking the label’s second Originals release this year, following Wild Hearts from Koei Tecmo.
