How to correctly detox, according to experts

Resting, cleansing, and nourishing your body from the inside out are the three main components of detox. It eliminates toxins before feeding your body with healthy nutrients. Detox implies following a specific diet or using special products, claiming to rid your body of toxins. It can help protect you from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health.

So, how does it work?

Detoxification means cleansing the blood. This removes impurities from the blood in the liver where toxins become processed for elimination. Your body also eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin during a body detox. However, when these systems become compromised, impurities aren’t properly filtered and the body becomes adversely affected.

A well-done detox program helps your body’s natural cleansing process. It helps with resting the organs through fasting, stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body, promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys, and skin, improving circulation of the blood, and refueling the body with healthy nutrients.

How to correctly detox, according to experts

According to experts, detox works because it addresses the needs of individual cells, the smallest units of human life. They also suggest that everyone should detox at least once a year. However, they warn nursing mothers, children, and patients with a chronic degenerative disease, cancer, or tuberculosis, not to do any kind of detox as it can be dangerous to their health.

When starting a detox, you need to first lighten up your toxin load. This means eliminating alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars, and saturated fats. These act as toxins in the body and become obstacles to your healing process. Aside from that, you will have to lessen stress as it triggers your body to release stress hormones called cortisol which is definitely not good for your health.

There are so many detoxification programs and detox recipes that you can use. This, on the other hand, depends on your individual needs. Experts explained that many programs follow a seven-day schedule as it takes the body time to clean the blood. There are detox diets like simple fruit and vegetable detox, smoothie cleanses, juice cleanses, sugar detox, and hypoallergenic detox among others.

But, the thing is, aside from doing it, you will have to assist your body’s natural detoxification process:

Get enough sleep

According to experts, you need enough sleep. This gives the body a chance to essentially reset itself. This helps out as an opportunity to slow down and refresh. Aside from that, the body can eliminate any toxic waste that built up during the day. Plus, the energy you spent in digesting food, moving around, and/or working, going on a much-needed shuteye can go into detoxifying. So, you have to make sure you’re getting a full seven to nine hours of deep and restful sleep to keep the body working its best.

Be aware of what you eat

What you eat matters. Not only do processed foods contribute to the toxins put into your body. However, eating antioxidant-rich foods help protect your cells against damage which is caused by molecules called free radicals. Oxidative stress, on the other hand, has become a condition resulting from the excessive production of free radicals.

You have to eat plenty of fiber. This includes brown rice and organically grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Aside from that, you can also eat detoxifying foods like beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed. You also need to take vitamin C as it helps the body to produce glutathione, a liver compound that actually drives away toxins.

Drink more water

Drinking water is the secret to great skin. However, it’s a key player in detoxification. According to experts, drinking more water and staying hydrated helps the kidneys flush out toxins more easily. Not only does hydration help with that, but it also means you can eliminate more toxins. You can even forget those detox teas, powders, or even juices. You just need an old-fashioned glass of water to get rid of what it needs to.

Exercise

Exercise helps get stronger, improves heart health, and even boosts your mood. Just like Elle Woods said (and, she is an expert), “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy.” It’s no surprise that exercise becomes a one-stop-shop for optimal health as it also helps out for getting rid of toxins. Aside from that, according to experts, it also promotes lymphatic circulation and sweat.

It also remains crucial to the body’s detoxification process. The lymphatic system remains another important part of the body’s detoxification. Exercise is one of the ways to move the waste to the lymph nodes. Not only does sweat expend electrolytes and water, but it also rids the body of toxins.

Reduce exposure to toxins

This one is very hard, especially with the way the world is built right now. However, reducing your exposure to toxins help your body be healthy overall. So, it can work optimally. You can also make some changes to avoid exposure to toxins to reduce the amount of detoxification the body has to do regularly.

Just like mentioned, many toxins are unavoidable. However, you have to be aware of reducing the body’s exposure to toxins. According to experts, on the other hand, the simplest way to assist your body in detox is to filter your water, filter your air at home, and breathe fresh air. You also have to make sure to use “green” or non-toxic materials when it comes to using cosmetics, toiletries, and laundry products among others.
