Cheers to New Me: Can You Honestly Reinvent Yourself?
At some point in our lives, we will face moments wherein we feel oddly stuck, we do not like ourselves that much, or we are just deeply craving for change. In these moments comes the strong desire to reinvent ourselves, to introduce the 2.0 versions of ourselves. But the question is, can we even, honestly, reinvent ourselves? And what does it even take to walk the journey of self-reinvention?
They say the only sure thing in this world is change. So, yes, we can indeed reinvent and reintroduce ourselves. Wanting to reinvent ourselves should not be viewed just as a filler in our yearly resolutions. Hence, it should be to encourage self-growth, learning, positivity in life, and resiliency in this ever-changing world. There are different ways to jumpstart self-rediscovery, and it is totally up to the individual to personalize their journey. But, to aid with your process, here are some ways you can do to start your journey to the 2.0 version of yourself.
Ways to Reinvent Yourself
Look deep within you
Wanting to reinvent yourself starts from a deep sense of self-awareness that you are in need of change. Look within yourself, find your core, your strengths and weakness, and what your life has been like. From there, assess what parts of yourself and your life need changing. Align your idea of self-reinvention with what and where you want to be in life after going through this change.
Get rid of clutter
Clutter can be anywhere from material possessions to people in your life. In Marie Kondo’s words, get rid of what does not bring you happiness. So, whether it is your old wardrobe or some friends you no longer enjoy being with, let go of it. Yes, it is and will be hard; but remember, if you are to hold on to things from the past, especially ones that do not serve you, you will not be able to move forward.
Unlearn old habits
Reinventing yourself means unlearning old habits, especially ones that are not beneficial for your future growth. Quit living with the same old practices that made you want to change yourself. This includes the little things like procrastinating and waking up late or the big stuff, such as toxic behaviors and unhealthy lifestyles.
Learn new things
It will not be much of a change if you do not have something new within you. So, venture to new things. Start a new hobby, find a new interest, develop new attitudes, learn a new skill, or meet new people. Anything that will introduce a new element into your life. Starting something new may be uncomfortable and scary, but that is how you know you are growing past where you first were.
The journey to rediscovering oneself takes guts, effort, and commitment to change. It is not a one-night event wherein you will suddenly feel new. But taking such a journey could be what you just need.
