An Open Letter for Graduating Students

Are you about to graduate? Do you already have plans after graduation? Are you satisfied with what you have achieved so far? Is your college program related to the profession you are aiming for? Is everything according to plan? Whether it’s a yes or a no, this open letter is for you.

I may not be in the position to speak for all of us, graduating students, but know that I am on your side and this is your safe space.

Message For You

Are you done with your classes yet? Are you waiting for your exam? Did you finish your internship yet? How was your thesis, have you defended it already? All I can say is, fighting! I know you can do all of that.

“Life can be heavy, especially if you try to carry it all at once. Decide what is yours to hold and let the rest go.”

Taylor Swift

I know how much pressure you are feeling right now, and at the back of it is a scared student—scared of facing the real world with no plans yet… of which profession you will pursue. But hey, it’s okay. Take your time to discover things on your own so you won’t have any regrets that you rush things out.

Graduation is not a race, it is a process and a step to know more about yourself then uncover the things that you’re about to do. In the eyes of some, you might have graduated late, but no… I’m proud of you, knowing that you are already close to the finish line. You are about to finish your studies after so many years! Isn’t that great?

Think about it, along the way you encountered some professors/instructors that challenged you. You felt like you did your best but it isn’t enough for them. You also encountered groupmates who pushed your limit and test your patience. Of course, some of you also encountered people in your community who talk bad about you and said that you will not make it. But look, after all of that you’ve been through, you are so close to wearing that black toga and receiving your diploma. Go get that degree!

After you graduate, the next question is “What’s next?”
