Top 3 Childhood Videogames That Never Gets Old

Videogames are one of the things that grow up with us, specifically the Gen Z. Some kids are lucky enough to experience playing games as a child. Owning a personal gaming console or just experiencing with a friend that has one.

The pixelated graphics is where we started and where we feel most nostalgic. Those were the good times and no matter the games we play as we get older, nothing could replace the games that we played during childhood.

Here are some video games that we shouldn’t miss out on even if we didn’t get to play them back then.

Videogame of all times

Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros is the largest gaming franchise in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It all starts when Italian plumbers brother Mario and Luigi find themselves in the Mushroom Kingdom. They are to rescue Princess Toadstool from the evil King Bowser. Mario is undeniably one most iconic game characters along with Pikachu and Link. He appears in a lot of game series and now the latest game of his is Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope for Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Red and Green

The Pokemon franchise has been around since the 1980s as a gaming magazine created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori. However, the first Pokemon game franchise was released in 1996 known as the Pokemon Red and Green versions. It was a game on Nintendo Game Boy and became a hit that soon spread globally. Pokemon or Pocket Monsters is a role-playing game that lets the players collect and trade monsters.

It became a big success and the second-largest franchise ever, Mario being the first. For 2 decades Pokemon continue to grow. Now Pokemon announced their latest franchise, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on Nintendo Switch. Lechonk is one of the new fan-favorite Pokemon that will be released in the upcoming videogame franchise. 

The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda series is an action-adventure game published by Nintendo. It was originally released in Japan as The Hyrule Fantasy: Zelda no Densetsu in 1986. The plot centers on an elf-like boy named Link and the land of Hyrule. Link aims to collect the eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom in order to rescue Princess Zelda from the antagonist, Ganon.

Link is a famous game character and has also appeared in a lot of game series like Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. Although Link is a popular character he is often confused with Zelda. It is understandable because Link is the main character but the title of the Game is Zelda. The latest franchise of this game was released in 2017 titled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch. The release of the second installment of the Breath of the Wild is in 2023.

Games of our generation

Some of us outgrow our love for gaming, and some do not, nevertheless the memories we have of those fun times will always be in our hearts. As we grow up, we sometimes think that having this kind of hobby is childish and a waste of time. One thing that we need to remember is we don’t need to let go of the things we love as children to be proper functioning adults.

These games from our childhood gave us colorful memories that will make us smile as we remember them. If we have the means we can always play them again and just bask in nostalgia.
