The PlayStation VR2 finally arrives at more retailers
Sony announced on Twitter that the PSVR 2 would be available for sale through third-party vendors after a low-key announcement. The headset is now available at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and GameStop for $549.99 or Php30k.
You can also get it with Horizon Call of the Mountain, which also demonstrates a lot of the PSVR 2’s potential for $599.99 or Php33k and is also available at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and GameStop.
The PSVR 2’s launch on Sony’s website in late February made it the only place to buy it. While it’s not the only reason sales of the PS5 VR headset have been slow, it certainly doesn’t help.
There is often a concern about game selection, as the launch lineup includes mostly games that are already available elsewhere. With VR add-ons for AAA titles like Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil Village, as well as unique experiences like Before Your Eyes, the tide is beginning to turn. However, Sony has a long way to go.
The PSVR 2 might be helped a little more by PC compatibility, but so far, there’s been no indication that’s on the way. Still, selling it in more stores could help.
In addition, since the best way to decide whether you’ll like VR is to try it out, perhaps retail stores will get kiosks where people can try out PSVR 2 for themselves. That’s another component that’s sorely absent from an online-only launch.
