The Funny But Relatable Types of Tita

In the Philippines, the term tita simply meant one’s aunt, whether they were related to the kid through the mother or father. This role plays a crucial part and has a great impact in the lives of their niece or nephew. The aunt is one of the few persons who know a child from birth, thus she often acts as a babysitter, gets to know their habits, and takes part in their upbringing. Most of the time, she is the person parents frequently entrust with their kids.

Being a tita is indeed one of the most fulfilling and cleverly ridiculous experiences. That’s why I listed some funny yet relevant types of tita.

THE FOODIE

Stash your candies or biscuits away because tita is coming on your way! It is the type of tita who loves to sneak and eat the snacks of the kids, especially when parents are not looking around. But the best part is, it is also the type who loves to share and bring home food, gifts, or souvenirs to their nephews or nieces.

THE OH-SO-TALENTED TITA

It is the one who enjoys singing and dancing along to nursery rhymes and kid’s songs. It doesn’t matter if it’s from Cocomelon, Kids TV, Chuchu TV, or whatever kids’ channel it is. She is in full blast feeling the beat!

THE TEACHER

A is for apple, ah-ah-apple. B is for ball, b-b-ball. C is for cat, c-c-cat; and so on. It is the type of tita who enjoys instructing her nieces or nephews. It doesn’t matter if it’s the alphabet, animals, body parts, numbers, colors, shapes, sounds, or whatnot. Tita is ready to teach.

THE PLAYMATE

Does the kid want to be a doctor? Tita is ready to be the patient. Does the kid love to be a chef? Then, she is willing to be the food taster. Does the kid want to be a cashier? Then she will also be an all-out shopper. This type of tita is the one who loves to play with their nephews or nieces. It doesn’t matter if it’s role-playing, charades, puzzles, or board games. Tita is always in character to play.

As a tita myself, I can say the role of it is indeed challenging yet so fulfilling and memorable. So, shout out to all titang-ina and ulirang tita out there who continuously root for their niece or nephew! You are all doing amazing!
