The Best Non-MCU Marvel movies

Since the release of X-Men movies, Marvel movies have been staple favorites by moviegoers around the world. Marvel superheroes captures the imagination of all geeks and nerds around the world. What used to be a kid’s genre became a vital part of contemporary pop culture.

The most successful Marvel movie franchise emerges as a result of this resurgence. That franchise is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly the Infinity Saga. Marvel Cinematic Universe is the highest grossing movie franchise today with more than 20 films under the banner and 9 movies earning billion dollars during release.

However, did you know that there are other Marvel movies that are not on the MCU? And yes, they are strong franchises on their own way during their run.

Here are some of the best non-MCU Marvel movies:

Raimi’s blockbuster Spider-Man movie trilogy

Sony/Marvel

Raimi’s Spider-Man kicks off the genre to an unprecedented box office level. This superhero trilogy made superheroes integrate to settings close to the real world.

Tobey Maguire portrays Peter Parker here who is the average millennial boy. Like other kids in late teens, he works several jobs to make ends meet. His life changed when he became Spider-Man through a spider bite. He has a crush on his best friend Mary Jane Watson(Kirsten Dunst). The tandem was a millennial icon during the 2000’s which made Tobey and Kirsten big stars since then.

The villains he faces in the trilogy are Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus who also are Peter’s mentor, Sandman and Venom. Out of the four major villains, Alfred Molina’s Doc ock and Willem Dafoe’s Goblin were the most iconic ones.

Deadpool

20th Century Fox

He is the mercenary with a mouth. A mutant that kills and never die. His name is Deadpool. And you know what is the best about this movie? Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool! How cool is that?

I’m not a fan of vividly brutal movies. I cannot stand graphic representations of violence. However, this movie was different. It was more fun and awesome than violent.

And did you know that Deadpool’s partner here is none other than big guy mutant tank Colossus?

Awesome!

X-Men: First Class

20th Century Fox

X-Men First Class was the prequel to the original X-Men movies during the 2000’s. The premise and story is simple yet it was very meticulous.

The dynamics of how Professor X and Magneto became frenemies is laudable. James McAvoy as the professor and Michael Fassbender as Magneto was the best choice for the film.

I also love the 60’s vibe and oh there’s a reference to the Cold War here, history nerds!

If you love spy thrillers with a mix of sci-fi superhero action, this one is for you.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

20th Century Fox

This is the Empire Strikes Back of X-Men prequels. To me, it is the best X-Men film to date.

I love the time travel plot between the 70’s and the dystopian future. It really brings that peak sci-fi vibe plus all the superhero actions. It introduced also new heroes like Blink, Bishop, Warpath, and Sunspot.

The best part was when Charles met his past self through telepathy. That was so sick!
