Stan Lee’s Most Memorable Cameos in Marvel Movies
The legend behind the Marvel Legacy. The creator responsible for some of the world’s revered superheroes. Stan Lee really has etched his name on the comic book industry. He is the reason why we get to see superheroes on comic books, as well as on screen. In honor of his contributions, Marvel made sure that he is visible in every movie that they released. It may be a small role or a cameo as himself.
So, here are some of Stan Lee’s most memorable cameos in Marvel movies.
Captain Marvel (2019)
After Stan Lee’s passing, he still had an appearance in Captain Marvel. He made a cameo as a subway passenger. In the scene, he also gave Carol Danvers a smile. This may appear as a simple cameo like others when they shot it. But considering that this is Lee’s first cameo after passing, this was really a tear-jerker. Aside from the subway scene, the film really gave him tribute by making him the subject of the opening logo.
Iron Man (2008)
Who would forget his first ever cameo? In the first Iron Man movie, Lee made a brief cameo as Tony Stark called him “Heff” as in Hugh Hefner. Stark greeting Lee as Hefner was amusing since they do resemble each other. It may seem like they made it as a joke casting Lee as Hefner but he was credited playing as himself.
Avengers: Infinity War (2019)
In this one, Stan Lee made a cameo as a bus driver, mainly Peter Parker’s school bus driver. This scene came up when the flying donut descended in the middle of New York City. Lee made a comedic remark to the students in the bus. “What’s the matter with you kids? You never seen a spaceship before?” said Lee in a sarcastic manner. According to him, this is considered to be one of his funniest cameos in the MCU ever.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
In the third installment of the Thor movie series, Stan Lee appeared as a barber. He went out to cut Thor’s hair before he was thrown into the arena to fight Hulk. Lee’s scene was really funny as we know that Thor treasures his hair. It was not expected to see Thor beg for Lee’s mercy on screen so that was a memorable one.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Technically, this animated movie is not a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is considered as a tribute and love letter to everything Spider-Man, including Stan Lee. His appearance in this movie had an emotional grasp on fans as it showed how he’s essential to the character. Another reason why it was such a tearjerker is because the film was released a month after his passing. He played as an owner of a costume shop wherein Miles Morales was planning to buy a Spider-Man costume. This comes after Peter Parker in his universe has passed away. While being concerned if the costume will fit, Lee assures him, saying “It always fits, eventually”.
