Lucky Faye Angelie Erese flies high in her Darna-inspired evening gown
Lucky Faye Angelie Erese finishes her Miss Tourism Queen Worldwide 2022 journey by placing as 1st runner-up. The pageant took place on October 23 at the World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
While she may have been close in clinching the crown, Lucky was nonetheless a complete stand out from start to finish. Proving to be a strong threat, she won two special awards. These are Miss Congeniality as well as the coveted Best in Long Gown.
For the finals, Lucky was in her superior fighting form thanks to the wonderful creation of Vinze Asuncion. It is a gown that brings immense pride and nobility. The recognition it has and continues to receive is truly deserving.
Not all superheroes wear capes, some wear evening gowns
The look takes inspiration from our favorite Pinay superhero, Darna. Calling it ‘Lipad’ or ‘To Fly’, Asuncion shares that the shapely fiery red gown was done with the outmost detail and precision.
Explaining that it has aspects in common with the original costume seen in the works of well-known cartoonist Mars Ravelo.
According to him, the base fabric aims to symbolize compassion and empathy. Meanwhile, the gold embellishments are for strength and protection.
Furthermore, a stitch of the Philippine map is visible at the back. This exemplifies the Filipino principles and ideals that Ravelo included into his artworks. In its entirety, the gown odes to the strength of every Filipina “who is soaring above the modern-day Filipina struggles”.
