GRWM: How can beauty products cover all types of demands?

Beauty standards and construct that society has been instilling in people stem a movement to promote cosmetic products that are more inclusive for all kinds of ‘beauty.’ But does it become an edge for those cosmetics lines to market out such? What about GRWM Cosmetics?

How wide can the sphere of beauty products market cover all types of demands?

Mae Layug, a YouTuber, officially launched GRWM Cosmetics on May 15, 2020. But before it came out, Layug’s goal wasn’t just to make a profit. According to her, she wanted to bring about a brand that can be considered a ‘community that listens’ to the demands of the consumers. And that would eventually allow the brand to offer them the best products at the worthy expense of money. To meet that, GRWM Cosmetics ensures to take note of the suggested ideas, and comments, be it criticism or additional concepts from the consumers.

Mae Layug believes that this opportunity can be the chance to break the conventional barriers in the makeup industry and social discourses regarding beauty. Layug is trying to dissolve the caging constructs about the definition of beauty. So, she offers products that are inclusive of any skin type, color, gender, and status.

GRWM tries to break the idea that makeup (products) is only for women. Gender stereotype hinders people to be more expressive of themselves and commit to art that represents them. This must be a great extension in bridging contemporary breakthroughs of social movement concerning the ever-cruel standards and their exclusivity.
