Get to Taste San Pedro’s Unique Pancit Maciang

Whenever you plan to go somewhere, there’s always this question that you need to ask the locals. “What’s the best food to try around the area?” And if you’ll ask any resident from San Pedro, Laguna, there’s only one answer. Pancit Maciang!

Pancit Maciang

This crowd favorite is the specialty of Maciang’s Pancitan, located at the heart of San Pedro, Laguna. Started around the late 1950’s, their specialty has taken the hearts and tastes of the people. Even dubbed as ‘San Pedro’s Pride’ due to its unique flavor, locals, even non–locals, can’t get enough of it.

What Makes This Pancit Special?

You may have already tasted a Pancit Bihon Guisado at least once in your life, right? This Pancit Maciang is also cooked the same way but with a twist.

To make it more unique than any other pancit, it was added by 2 more ingredients: an over–easy fried egg and ketchup. But that’s not all. They also offer chicken proben (a chicken organ), making the pancit more special.

This may raise some eyebrows, but you’ll be amazed at how good the combination is. The savory taste of the pancit and the sweet taste of ketchup leave a distinct flavor that makes you come back for more.

Moreover, it’s very budget-friendly as it costs only 35 pesos for a pancit Maciang special.

Other Specialties

Through time, the local pancitan continues to progress as they now serve more than just a single plate of Pancit Maciang special. They offer to serve their special pancit in bilao which can cater from 6 – 16 persons.

Also served by this classic pancitan are different breakfast meals such as Special Beef Tapa, Boneless Bangus, and of course, the plain pancit bihon guisado.

It’s safe to say that the Maciang’s Pancitan has seen generations after generations grow with their Pancit. (I can even attest to that)
