Former PH President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III dies at the age of 61

This morning, June 24, 2021, we receive grim news. According to the Philippine News Agency, former Philippine President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has unfortunately died. This comes after being hospitalized in the Capitol Medical Center, Quezon City. As of this writing, the rest of the Aquino family have yet to release a statement.

Since 2019, Former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has suffered from many ailments unbeknownst to the public. However, little public information has become available about his health.

Occasional times, reports would come up and suggest being rushed to the hospital. However, his family and office remained very private with his health issues. Meanwhile, late Aquino III served the country as its President from 2010- 2016. Then, he ignited the country’s economic growth spurt through budget reformation. He also based his campaign on the premise of “Daang Matuwid,” aiming to eradicate poverty through eradicating corruption. 

 According to CNN News, Mr. Aquino III also became “the only son of the popular democracy icons,” Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, and former President Corazon Aquino. 

He also won the 2010 elections by a landslide and swore to be a representative of ordinary Filipino citizens. Of course, he contributed a lot to our economy during his term. Our GDP rates grew through good governance and leadership confidence. Foreign direct investments grew, and tourism boomed under his term alongside the campaign of It’s More Fun in the Philippines.

Today, we remember him as a President who gave his best efforts despite the challenges.
