Finding Solace in Independence: Life Lessons from Vloggers Who Live Alone

Your 20s can be a rollercoaster ride. You are trying to strike a balance in finding your place in the world while figuring out who you are. All of this while navigating the ups and downs of relationships, career, and personal growth. This is a perfect time for exploration and self-discovery, but honestly speaking, it can also be challenging and overwhelming.

Entering the world of young Filipino lifestyle and beauty vloggers, names like Ry Velasco, Ashley Garcia, and Hazel Quing comes into my mind when independence is the topic. These vloggers have built an online community with their subscribers by sharing their lives, experiences, and even their own perspectives. And while their stories may be unique from one another, there’s a common thread that binds them all together – the importance of finding solace through independence.

Finding Solace in Independence: Life Lessons from Vloggers Who Live Alone

1. Embrace the Unknown

The feeling of not knowing is not a fun emotion to have. But taking risks and venturing into uncharted territory can be both scary and rewarding at times. For it can lead you to some of the most rewarding experiences in life. By living alone, you will learn to trust in your abilities even when you are uncertain about what the future holds.

2. Prioritize your mental health

All of these vloggers have mentioned in their vlogs that prioritizing your own mental health should not be taken against you. Even if it means going out of your comfort zone and tackling real-life battles alone. However, we can still find peace and quiet while seeking help from the people who are dear to us – our family and friends.

When things get heavy and unbearable, it is okay to acknowledge this feeling. In relation, it is also encouraged to act on it – it is high time that we normalize seeking therapy from professionals.

3. Build Meaningful Relationships]

When you are living alone, it is so convenient to spend time with almost everyone – there will be no parents who will nag you about your whereabouts or what time are you coming home. But it is also during this time that we are the one who gets to decide who will we spend our time, energy, and resources with.
