Pairing outfits with my pixie cut to avoid migraines

I love changing my hair. I’ve dyed them pink, grown them long, and did a pixie cut. When I had a pixie cut last year, I realized that I don’t get too many migraines as it stops the heat from getting trapped within my thick hair. So, recently, I cut my hair all off again. That way, the heat won’t affect me too much.

However, the struggle that would revolve around this haircut includes choosing an outfit that would fit my preference. I could pair the pixie cut with a glammed-up fit for a feminine look while wearing baggy clothing for a more androgynous appeal.

Here are a few outfits I would wear with my new pixie haircut that could potentially avoid my migraines:

The weather in the Philippines is a little bit complicated. Despite PAG-ASA announcing an onset of rainy weather, it’s still so hot that it triggers my migraine. So, aside from struggling when pairing an outfit with my pixie haircut, too much layering could actually add to the reason behind my pain.

crop top, baggy jeans, and platform boots (+ blazer)

This has always been a go-to choice for me. Not only does it feel easy to style but it also helps me avoid feeling too hot which could potentially lead to another migraine. To battle the tag-ulan weather, I would bring a blazer with me. Aside from that, that blazer also allows me to look professional when I wear this to a meeting outside.

cowl top, black trousers, and platform boots (+black cropped cardigan)

I made this cowl top in March 2021. And, the femininity of it perfectly juxtaposes with the masculinity of the pixie cut. So, I would maximalize the accessories with dangling earrings, rings, and bracelets. To battle the tag-ulan weather, I would bring a cropped cardigan with me.

maxi dress with a mock turtleneck underneath (+strappy sandals or white sneakers)

Maxi dresses are always associated with summer. Recently, people are layering it over mock turtlenecks or long sleeves and under blazers or sweaters. That way, they can maximize its use even during the tag-ulan season. I prefer having the maxi dress over a mock turtleneck to avoid feeling too hot or too cold. Then, I’d complete the outfit with a pair of strappy sandals or white sneakers.

sweater vest, flared pants, and boots (+blazer)

An all-black ensemble has always been the easiest to style with any haircut, much less a pixie cut. A sweater vest and a pair of flared pants look professional enough for an office outfit. Then, I can just add accessories for a pop of color.

Migraines have always affected my day-to-day life, even when it comes to dressing up. That’s why I had a pixie cut to avoid the heat getting trapped within my thick hair and potentially triggering my pain. Even with the clothing I wear, I try to give myself a little leeway to avoid migraines. Everybody has always referred to fashion and function as rivals. But, the thing is, you can actually play into functional fashion. You can play around with whatever clothing you wish to wear and have it play the role that you need it to.
