OPINION: My Favorite TV Couples Of All Time
The greatest love stories of all time come from our favorite television series. The thing is, I don’t watch a lot of TV. But, when I do, I always come back to the same ones all the time. It makes me feel anxious at the thought of not knowing the outcome of the series. So, it makes me feel safe when watching what I already finished. Plus, seeing my favorite TV couples make me feel warm and gooey inside. The first time I watched all of these series I already loved the thought of these two characters together even though I have yet to know the outcome. That’s why I keep going back to them time and time and again.
OPINION: My Favorite TV Couples Of All Time
Monica and Chandler | Friends
Monica and Chandler have been friends since Ross brought him back to their hometown to introduce him to his entire family. This included his sister Monica and her best friend, Rachel. Although it was quite a confusing first meet-up, this TV couple’s friendship grew into something sweeter.
Even though they were just friends, there were already hints of their chemistry even from the start of the first season. Sure, they started as hook-up partners or what people currently call fuck buddies. But, it was still all the more amazing to watch them from that to having the most romantic proposals of all time.
Magnus and Alec | Shadowhunters
Magnus and Alec met and immediately, I was enamored with the way they look at each other. It’s as if you could feel the tension when this TV couple’s eyes met. And, the fact that the warlock was already impressed with the Shadowhunter the first time they met made me believe in love at first sight.
I love rewatching the entire series just to watch their love story blossom again and again and again. Every scene that they had together made me swoon. When Alec was arranged to marry and Magnus stopped the wedding, my heart was about to burst. That kiss? Literally awe-inducing.
Jake and Amy | Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Jake and Amy started as a pair of detectives who liked competing against each other. Their relationship is a central part of the entire show. This TV couple is polar opposites with Amy being a neat freak and detail-oriented. Meanwhile, he’s immature and a little bit childish at times.
But, opposites attract. The seriousness in Amy mellows down and she gets to have fun when she’s with Jake. The childishness in Jake grows up and he learns more when he’s with Amy. They are such a great couple that it’s even more endearing to watch them end up together, get married, and raise a child together.
Nomi and Amanita | Sense8
Nomi and Amanita… This TV couple truly has my heart. Nomi is 1/8 of the species of humans that are telepathically connected called sensate. Every sensate is part of a group or cluster of sensates that can connect and communicate with each other wherever they are in the world.
One of the things that made me fall in love with Nomi and Amanita was the escape from the hospital. When Nomi collapsed and was locked in a hospital for a planned lobotomy by her parents, Amanita rushes to her aid and pretends to be a nurse as she pushes her girlfriend to safety.
It was a heart-attack-inducing scene but their love truly shone through. Nomi being sensate would have been weird for her. However, Amanita remained to have an open mind with the only thing that she ever seems to be truly frightened of is losing Nomi, her one true love. And, that says a lot.
Leonard and Penny | The Big Bang Theory
When Leonard and Penny met, they were just neighbors. And, that’s what Penny thought so, too. She would eventually come around to his feelings when she knew he had a big crush on her. The audience of the series would only know about it and this TV couple would later share their first official kiss.
Separately, they’re both smart (in different ways), and funny (also in different ways), and together, they are truly unstoppable. Leonard and Penny would break up more than once but stayed stronger. They overcame their fears and the series ended with Penny and Leonard about to welcome their first child together.
Brittany and Santana | Glee
Brittany and Santana started off as best friends. Then, they became best friends with benefits which were hinted at in various instances during the first season alone. Santana is often arduous in her relationships with other people. However, with Brittany, she embraces her softer side. At first, the brown-skinned beauty was closeted and was forced to come out of the closet.
Gaining her confidence, she embraces her relationship with Brittany. They had gone through a lot separately and together. But, being together was inevitable for Brittany and Santana. And, eventually, Santana proposes to Brittany and they get married to an extra TV couple that shares the spotlight, Kurt and Blaine.
Mitch and Cam | Modern Family
This is the TV couple that made fans love the show even more. They were outgoing and flawed but they remained genuine at the same time. Over eleven seasons, regular and occasional viewers alike saw them adopt two babies, get married, find different jobs, and eventually move from the West Coast to the Midwest.
They know each other very well which has become a must when it comes to relationships. Practically reading each other’s minds without conversing or even speaking a word is such a wonderful thing to see, especially in an older couple. It’s a goal that a lot of couples want to have.
Phoebe and Mike | Friends
The first time I watched the series, I thought Phoebe would end up with Joey. But, oh, this was an even better TV couple. They met through Joey who forgot that he was supposed to arrange a blind date for his best friend, Phoebe. And, he ended up calling a random Mike at the coffee shop.
At first, they were going to go their separate ways. But, they ended up together again. He embraced every part of her weirdness and even matched it with his own. It was a refreshing sight to see. They got together and eventually got married in the most Phoebe way possible.
Raymond and Kevin | Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Sure, Jake and Amy were intended to be the main TV couple of the sitcom, but Raymond and Kevin is another one that stole the fans’ hearts. It’s as if the show would only want to produce the healthiest set of relationships ever. I just love them together. It’s like watching our dads on television. I love them.
They prove that one of the keys to a successful marriage is honesty. And, it proves so much, especially when you watch them on the series. Despite Kevin not being a cop nor a detective, he will never abandon Raymond when he’s in danger. We see their relationship grow and prosper as the series goes on and they are truly inspiring to see them together.
