My Post-Pandemic Realizations

The past 3 years with COVID-19 Pandemic affected a lot of things in our lives. It had lots of impact in almost all aspects of our lives. It changed how we live on daily basis and even taught us so much lessons to ponder as we grow.

What is actually the world after COVID-19 Pandemic? Given the fact that there is still presence of this deadly virus, a lot of things happen in almost just a blink of an eye.

Here are some of my post-pandemic realizations I learned:

Life is indeed unpredictable. The pandemic has taught me how to value life more. We never know what might happen today, tomorrow or even the coming days. I still remember how sad and fast days go by and along with it are numbers of dead and affected ones. The pandemic has greatly wreaked havoc thousands of lives we never imagined. It’s as if one moment, everything’s going well and fine, and shortly after that — this wasn’t the life we expect to be. I also realize that spending time with my family is such an important thing. We can never tell how long will they, nor we live in this world.

Mental health is as important as our physical health. It is an undeniable fact that during the pandemic mental health cases records a high toll. Most especially in terms of our educational system where everything was on virtual approach. While battling with this deadly virus, some of us are also battling with their own self against stress, anxiety and even depression. To be physically fit during quarantine and lockdown periods is a need to avoid sick, or worst be infected by this deadly Corona virus.

However, I realize that this isn’t just about our physical healthy but even our mental health as well. Living with pandemic for so long is so exhausting, and so I learned to prioritize my mental health above all. Being mentally healthy helps us manage and resist to negative thoughts. But remember that this isn’t as fast as what you wanted it to be. It’s a long process, and it needs an ample time. And just like our physical strength — prioritizing our mental health keeps up and improve our over-all well-being.

The pandemic has taught me how to embrace uncertainties and how to live through it. The pandemic has indeed gave me a wiser outlook to life. It actually made me a more present-focused woman, which really helped me with decision-making skills. It taught me how to appreciate and be grateful to things – even the smallest ones. COVID-19 woke my senses that things won’t be the same again; and it made me realize how lucky I am to have the change to live till today. We have this so called ‘New Normal’ where restrictions and new practices must always be done. And I guess, as we grow – we won’t never forget how our lives were during this time.

Filipinos are resilient, it has become one of our identity which then creates a sense of community and compassion. Thus, this pandemic has been a living proof of how compassionate we are to one another. Despite battling with this virus for more than a year, we have showed unconditional love through community pantries, and community services to other families in need.
