Despite missing a few days of the competition, it is never too late for Miss Aura Philippines 2022 Micca Rosal to slay! Suppose to depart around September 11, Micca’s visa got delayed preventing her from leaving.
Fresh from her flight, Micca immediately went straight for the kill when she participated in her first pre-pageant activity. During the national costume presentation, Micca came out in a showstopping ensemble designed by Jomar Peralta.
Looking at it up close and in-detail, here is the backstory behind the stunning piece.
‘LuzViMinda’
In an Instagram post, Micca shares photos of the costume which was named ‘LuzViMinda’. Aiming to embody the Philippines, the costume includes elements that are designed to represent the country’s three main island groups.
For Luzon, the use of bahag as the silhouette symbolizes protection, power, and valor. It hails from the traditional loincloth coming from the Cordilleras in Northern part of the Island.
Known for its colorful festivals, the Ati-Atihan festival is portrayed in the costume representing Visayas. It is explained that the costume uses festive patterns and materials with vibrant colors to imitate what the festival expresses. These are people’s joy, optimism, and resiliency.
Last but not least, the designer honors the Maranao people, one of the many Muslim tribes in the region, for Mindanao. Finishing off the costume is an elegant headpiece, embodying a Muslim princess. It seeks to commend their efforts to preserving culture and tradition.
The finals of Miss Aura International will be held this Monday, September 26, 2022 in Antalya, Turkey. Micca will try to succeed fellow Filipina Alexandra Faith Garcia and achieve a back-to-back win for the country.
Good Luck to you, Micca! As early as now, we applaud you for rising up despite of the challenges. Giving us a solid performance while adorning a stunning piece is truly a testament.
It just goes to show that time restraints will never prevent a Filipina from giving her all during a performance.
