LTO opens a 24/7 portal for license registration and renewal
Renewing your license or registering a new car can be a tiresome thing. To accomplish those tasks, you have to line up an entire day. Not to mention, most of us have that worry of COVID-19 infection during the process. Well, there’s good news from the LTO! It is now launching a website to lessen the time to get your errands done.
How efficient and secured is the portal?
Released officially last June 8, LTO designed this portal to make your car registration and license applications more efficient. Aside from that, it is a way for the agency to adapt to the new normal and social distancing guidelines. As added by the agency, the data center in Manila can do around a million transactions per day. Probably, it will also reduce the stress of LTO employees who often had to go through piles of paperwork.
The coverage of the portal’s service includes Metro Manila and areas such as Laoag, Bayombong, Roxas, Tagbilaran, Dumaguete, Ormoc, Butuan, Pagadian, Malaybalay, Lipa, Calapan, Naga, Tagum, Davao, General Santos, and Baguio. If you have problems or inquiries, you can access it 24/7. As of the moment, you can use it to set an appointment to your nearest LTO branch for selected transactions. There’s also a feature for cashless payments for renewal fees, registration fees, and fines. Moreover, LTO said in a statement, “The portal provides fast and 24/7 access to the agency’s services via computer, tablet or smartphone,”
According to the website, all of the data in the portal is safe since LTO uses its new Land Transport Management System (LTMS). Itis composed of an Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) that scans the client’s faces and fingerprints.
LTO chief and Transportation Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante said, “The new LTO portal is one of the key steps on our way to becoming a frontline government agency showcasing fast and efficient public service for a progressive land transport sector.”
