Is there a secret behind Taylor Swift’s famous photo filter? Probably, yes.
If you are a certified Swiftie for a long time now, you will notice that Taylor Swift has a favorite filter for the photos she posts online. The blue or purple tint and contrasted yellow-ish highlights, matched with glaring camera flash, have been around the pop star’s Instagram feed for so long now. It’s now a stapled aesthetic for her. You can usually see this in her exclusive party photos whenever she hosts one—or even just in casual photoshoots inside her home. Fans have long been wondering what camera Taylor uses, and now they found the answer!
A Reddit account has finally cracked the code for Taylor’s famous photo filter, the user shares this to her TikTok account, here’s the info:
The Camera
For a long time, Swifties always thought that the filter in Taylor’s photos was just from a mobile application and the photos were just taken using her iPhone. On the other hand, some thought that she uses a vintage film camera. Well, actually, neither of the two is the case. Taylor Swift uses an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Camera. Yes, it’s a camera, but is it a film camera? No.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 is a mirrorless digital camera that came out in 2013. It’s a digital camera but it looks cool and vintage—kinda like on-brand with Taylor. She was using the 14-42mm lens for the said camera, a wide one, which explains how she’s getting all those cool group shots with a lot of people during parties. The camera has a built-in flash and a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth option. It initially had a price range of $2000-2500 when it came out, but now it’s available for anywhere for around $800.
Now, how did the fans know this was THE camera? Well, the paparazzi saw Taylor Swift using the camera on different occasions now. She’s so fond of this camera. I guess, classic never goes out of style.

Now, we already solved the mystery of the camera, but that doesn’t explain the filter. Where is the filter coming from? Well, as it turns out, it is a camera preset that Olympus offers—and an Olympus art filter. The filter that Taylor Swift is using is called Vintage Art Filter 1. Basically, every time she takes a photo using her Olympus, she just has this filter built-in on her camera. She presses the shutter button, the flash goes on, and then the camera applies the filter.
The filter features a strong blue or purple tint and a yellowish highlight. The distinctness is even more noticeable with the flash, or when it is used indoors or at night time. It creates a vintage film camera effect—no wonder why the fan thought she was using a film cam.
The filters featured in Olympus are present in all of their digital camera catalogs. Now you know what camera to buy in order to serve Taylor Swift photos!
