OPINION: My Top 3 Filipino Street Foods
Street foods are convenient foods as you can find it almost everywhere and it is affordable. You can get full by eating them. Do you also find comfort by eating Filipino street foods? Can it satisfy your cravings? Here are my top 3 Filipino Street Foods:
- Kwek-kwek
- Isaw
- Calamares
Here’s Why
My top pick will always be kwek-kwek. The hot quail egg inside with the flavorful brown sauce is just a perfect match. The deliciousness it gives is just on another level. Aside from that, it is rich in protein, can boost your immunity, balance cholesterol, improve vision, and increase your energy. It is yummy and nutritious, so good, right?
Isaw will be my 2nd choice. It is a grilled chicken intestine that is known for being chewy. It is best served with flavored vinegar, a bit of soy sauce, and a little bit of spiciness. I like it properly cleansed and cook well done as you can feel its crunchiness while chewing.
Lastly is calamares. I just recently discovered how delicious it is and added it to my favorites. I hesitated to taste it at first because I thought it is hard to chew, but guess what? It’s not. The coating is so crunchy and the squid inside feels like it melts in your mouth. It is perfect to eat with spicy flavored vinegar. Take note that it is not just delicious but it also has benefits. It is rich in protein, has antioxidants that is cancer-preventive, has minerals, and it can also fight anemia because it contains copper.
Too Much is Dangerous
Of course, we know that eating too many street foods can harm our health. Too much is always dangerous—and it is applicable in all scenarios. Also, make sure you do not have allergies to these foods as they may put you in danger.
