Foods to fill your table this Chinese New Year

Aside from dancing dragons and fireworks, another thing that is being looked forward to in Chinese New Year is none other than — the feast! However, we may not witness the former in the streets of Binondo but we can still bring the celebration in the comfort of our homes.

As we welcome the Year of the Rabbit, we serve to you these mouthwatering foods to celebrate this festive holiday, and of course, where to find them!

Eng Bee Tin Chinese Deli

Needless to say, it’s impossible for this to miss the table — the classic, tikoy! Symbolizing its stickiness to keep the family close-knit and in a good relationship, this has become a centerpiece in CNY celebrations in the Philippines.

Established in 1912, Eng Bee Tin Chinese Deli founder Chua Chiu Hong made way to serve traditional Chinese delicacies through the store’s “humble beginnings.” From tikoy to hopia, they continue to bring new ideas that cultivate their own and infused Filipino delicacies as well.

Aside from the white-brown tikoy that we know, they recreated them into various flavors such as cheese, pandan, strawberry, and even sweet corn! But wait there’s more to that. They also created innovative recipes: Filled Tikoy Bumbong, Tikoy Lumpia with Cheese, and Ginataan with Tikoy.
