Netflix returns to this year’s all-virtual AnimeJapan to celebrate diversity

Netflix finally to this year’s all virtual AnimeJapan 2021! Of course, they did this to showcase its diversifying slate and fan-favorite voice cast for fans in Japan and around the world. The media conglomerate also strengthens its ongoing commitment to become a home for fans and creators around the world. They, then, continue to note that it will premiere around 40 new original anime titles this year. This comes close to double the number of titles brought to fans last year.

Netflix returns to this year’s all-virtual AnimeJapan to celebrate diversity

During the virtual stage event, Netflix gave fans several glimpses. They announced the upcoming worldwide release of Record of Ragnarok. Premiering on June 2021, it’s an anime adaptation of the hugely successful manga of the same name. The story about the epic fight for the fate of humanity will join an ever expanding slate of anime. Of course, this includes previously announced titles. Like the comedic, slice-of-life series The Way of the Househusband (premiering April 8, 2021) or the popular RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness (premiering later this year).

Teasers and Sneak-Peeks

Netflix also gave fans and press a new glimpse at upcoming projects Yasuke (premiering April 29, 2021) and Eden (premiering May 27, 2021). They revealed a new trailer and the launch date for EDEN. Aside from that, they also unveiled character designer Takeshi Koike’s special artwork of Yasuke. A wealth of international creators brought these brand new projects to life. Thus, further strengthening the ambition to diversify their lineup of original anime.

This comes while working with top creators from inside and outside of Japan. The stage event also included appearances who felt excited about the global launch of their series. These includes voice talents Kenjiro Tsuda (The Way of the Househusband), Marika Kono (Eden) and Toshiyuki Morikawa (RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness). Of course, they took advantage of such experience to get closer to overseas anime fans.

RECORD OF RAGNAROK – Global Premiere Date: June 2021

Record of Ragnarok revolves around the story of thirteen gods from across the globe. Meanwhile, thirteen of the world’s most notable humans fighting it out in one-on-one battles to decide the fate of humanity.  Based on Azychika, Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui’s manga, it remains an earnest battle of transcendental rage begins!

YASUKE – Global Premiere Date: April 29, 2021

In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, there exists the greatest ronin never known. Yasuke struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. Then, a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo. EDEN – Global Premiere Date: May 27, 2021

Thousands of years into the future, Artificially Intelligent robots solely inhabits the city known as Eden. With their former masters vanishing long ago, they continue a routine assignment. Within the depths of the city, a human baby girl from the stasis awakens two maintenance robots. Then, they begin to start questioning all they were taught to believe. They were told that humans were nothing more than a forbidden ancient myth. So, the two robots secretly raise the child in a safe haven outside Eden.

THE WAY OF THE HOUSEHUSBAND – Global Premiere Date: April 8, 2021

 

Feared among the yakuza as The Immortal Dragon, Tatsu remains a legend of the underworld. Of course, this comes with an impressive number of defeated rival gangs under his belt. However, he hopes to wash his hands of his past. So, he gets married and devotes himself fully to the way of the househusband. He diligently did the cooking, cleaning, washing, and grocery shopping each day. His tough, former yakuza underling, Masa does not like Tatsu’s new domestic life. Tatsu, on the other hand, tries his best to pursue the way of the househusband… while having one assassin after another trying to take him out.

RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness – Global Premiere: 2021

In 2006, they found traces of improper access to secret Presidential files in the White House’s network. American federal agent Leon S. Kennedy sets to invesitgate the incident. However, the lights go out. Leon and the SWAT team suddenly get attacked by a horde of mysterious zombies. TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield, on the other hand, encounters a mysterious image drawn by a youth in a country she visited as she provides support to refugees. The drawing seems to be of a victim of a viral infection. Haunted, Claire starts her own investigation.

Then, the next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a welfare facility. There, she reunites with Leon and uses this as an opportunity to show him the boy’s drawing. Leon, then, finally realizes some sort of connection between the zombie outbreak and the strange drawing. However, he tells Claire that he couldn’t find a connection and laves. Of course, after that, two zombie outbreaks in distant countries lead to events that shake the nation to its very core.
