Netflix is giving Anya Taylor-Joy another TV series from the makers of Queen’s Gambit
In case you’re still wondering when will you see Anya Taylor-Joy on a Netflix show again, it might be happening really soon! Yes, the streaming platform heard your requests so they are prepping up the Queen’s Gambit star for an upcoming series. So far, here’s what we’ve heard about this project:
A series with a Lolita-like plot
Scott Frank is the genius behind Queen’s Gambit and he saw that Anya Taylor-Joy deserves more than seven episodes. Because of that, he decided that Anya will play the main character in his new show called “Laughter in the Dark.”
The Laughter in the Dark is an adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov’s novel. This is similar to the raunchy and full of controversy story of Lolita. The series will revolve around a middle-aged art critic Albert Albinus. Despite being already married, he discovered that he’s attracted to Margot Peters. Margot is a 17-year-old girl who wants to be a successful actress. When the two characters met, a parasitic relationship was formed. What makes the situation even worse is Margot’s ex-lover encourages the affair to destroy Albinus’ life.
During an interview in a podcast, Scott Frank said that this project is like ” a valentine to movies”. He added that it’s going to be a film noir and at the same time a movie within a movie. Aside from that, it’s a quite nasty and wonderful thriller.
Moreover, Scott divulged that the show is going to include Anya Taylor-Joy as one of the main casts. Most likely, she will play the role of Margot Peters as a young and alluring actress. There’s no information yet on the casting for other characters.
The production of this show is still in its early stages so it may take a long while before we can watch it on our devices or televisions. But we’re still happy that Anya will have a different but challenging role since the girl deserves it.
