Netflix, UN Women launch ‘Because She Watched’ for Int’l Women’s Day

Netflix and UN Women launched “Because She Watched” for International Women’s Day. It is a special Netflix collection of series, documentaries and films for the celebration.
The collection will be available all throughout the year. It is curated by female creators including filmmaker Ava DuVernay, Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, Pose‘s Janet Mock. It also includes Salma Hayek, Sophia Loren, Laurie Nunn, To All the Boys star Lana Condor and more.
According to Anita Bhatia, UN Women Deputy Executive Director, “this collaboration is about taking on the challenge of telling women’s stories and showing women in all their diversity.”
“It’s about making visible the invisible, and proving that only by fully representing and including women on screen, behind-the-camera, and in our narratives overall, society will truly flourish,” she added.
Meanwhile, the International Women’s Day will happen on March 8. In fact, it will be themed by, “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.” Inspiring the women through stories is the aim of the collection.
