K-Pop Domination: Jaw-dropping Pinoy crossovers
Having the opportunity to get introduce to K-Pop artists and their culture, it is indeed always a surprise to encounter these idols even mouthing few Tagalog words or phrases. Astounding enough, they’re not only going for bare-minimum in showing love for Filipinos.
From singing classic OPM ballads to counting in our language, these K-Pop crossovers is beyond miraculous. Let me share to you some of the so-called once in a blue moon Korean x Pinoy collaborations:

Ben&Ben feat. Young K
Released in Spring of 2021, Leaves is a track collab of the band Ben&Ben and Day6 member, Young K. Charting on the local streaming site Melon, the single became a successful gift for My Days and Liwanags.
Offering a mellow R&B tune to listeners, the song is mirroring of the triumphs and downfalls growing out of life. A whole different storytelling masterfully sang by two artists we never think we needed at first. The collaboration took place from different recordings but surely of same page: to make us cry in joy.
BAMBAM ‘Ngiti’ Cover
Charming and elegant, Bambam of GOT7 laced the OPM song, Ngiti, with his unmatched vocal color. Alluring the listeners and concert goers to be an iGOT7 with clear and nicely done pronunciation of the Tagalog language. Singing with his sweet range and inviting rendition.
No questions asked, our Thai Supremacy is K-Pop’s unbeatable all-rounder. Not just great at dancing various difficult choreographies, he truly proves that he is also a masterful of languages, now Filipino as his newly learned one.
Sandara Park and iKON JAY
Sharing their lullaby of a duet, Sandara Park and JAY of iKON covers Dahil Sa’yo. Posted on our Pambansang Krungkrung’s YouTube channel. The cover has garnered over a million views now. Showing the dynamics of their swags and being an old-school clan blood.
Both lived in the Philippines, JAY and Dara gave a notable gratitude move, looking back to their once Filipino ties. Harmonizing in bright red to celebrate the Christmas, they gave the track a whole different Pinoy flavor. They looked so cuddly here, aren’t they?
JACKSON’s iconic “isa, dalawa, tatlo”
Aside from loving OPM, K-Pop idols also tried to give more authentic take into the language. Some of which like Jackson Wang of GOT7 always do every time he got his opportunity of encountering any Filipino fan. Proudly, though of needing some polishing, he makes sure to always count up to three.
What’s cool about Jackson is that he Isa, Dalawa, Tatlo when needed. Or even of typical online VCEs, he can’t get through one chance not taking the shot to recite the phrase. He once said in a fansign call that he knows even the word, panget, which of means ugly in English through his Filipino friends. With a fraction of Tagalog this Chinese man can speak and understand, Filo Ahgases might have the favor to really get home the crown.
